Dunlop are making dual purpose 17 inch front and rear tyres for the Buell Ullysses that are the same size as those needed for the Rockster. So are Pirelli (Scorpions). Might help with your plans. Here are the model numbers/sizes/pricesin USD from the Buell website: Buell® Tires G0150.1AKS DUNLOPÃ...

Am I Crazy?

MikeB, Welcome back to motorcycling; its a whole new world. :D And remember, in the world of the insane, a sane man is considered mad. I think that means you are crazy, as are all of us who ride large motorcycles. But the world is a richer place for it. Enjoy dude, and ride safe. Riding unwisely; no...

 I believe that the Rockster front end is from the R1100S; it uses the same mudguard. The 1100S and 1150R have differenct guard mounts, which is why a rockster front guard won't fit an 1150R.

Van,

Your question is like asking whether to use mineral or synthetic oil. There is no right answer except to change your oil regularly, but arguing about it sure keeps everybody amused!

Welcome Joe, I have a Rockster which comes standard with the BMW high seat - yours has the standard (middle) height seat from the factory. I also have a 29" inseam but am 5' 8". And the Rockster has a slightly higher rear ride height that the Roadster due, I think, to a slightly longer rea...

The new Buell Ullysses has special hybrid tyres (road/dirt) made by Dunlop in the same size as that on the Rockster ie 17" rims, 120/70 front, 180/55 rear.

Have a look here: http://mysite.mweb.co.za/residents/clasqm/buell.html

Could be the go.

For the ROCKSTER, you MUST use the centrestand.

For the ROADSTER, you MUST use the sidestand.

Remember, the BMW factory is watching. There will be consequences for non-compliance.

OK, OK, I'm joking ...

I find staying onboard, without any fancy stuff except for my one big secret - regular, by the book, servicing and cleaning - seems to preserve me and my bike perfectly well.

Otherwise I just ride it.
