If K&N type filters were better, like heated grips, shaft drive, 4-way flashers, 700Watt alternators, EFI, JumpStart lugs, Power Sockets and CenterStands are, BMW would'a put it on at the factory, the R1200R not withstanding.
Oh, like the old EFI system that surged, huh? (just kidding)

Riding isn't an option for those in the snow belt. Perhaps in another two or three months.

I keep a Battery Tender plugged into both of my bikes 24x7. I use a BMW spec tender for my R1100's gel type battery and a regular type tender for my Harley's lead/acid battery.

You'll have to charge or replace the battery, so the fuel pump can pressurize the EFI system.

As a preventive measure, if you haven't had this problem, I suggest you cut the factory tie wraps and replace them with looser fitting ones. I did this to my '04 after reading possible problems resulting from being 'wrapped too tight'. 46k miles later and still running good. Good move. You shouldn'...

Somebody at the BMW factory likes to gorrila tighten tie wraps. Earlier this year my R1100R had a broken wire in the main sheath just past the gas tank. When I turned the bars, the engine would sometimes cut out. I've also read several other threads about this same problem. To fix the problem, cut t...

Re: ABS - don't try this at home!

How do you tell if your bike has ABS? Just find a really slippery road and jam on your front brake as hard as you can at 100 mph. If you fall flat on your arse you don't have ABS. Seriously, it really worries me that there are riders on public roads that have to ask someone else whether or not thei...

Nice mod. Why the 1.75 to 2-inch adapter? Seems the automotive aftermarket should offer a 1.75 inch chrome or stainless pipe tip. I mess around with old Corvettes. I might have some stainless tips in my parts bin.

Forget looking at the bike. If there's any doubt about ABS, or whether it's working properly, simply accelerate to about 30 mph, slam on the rear brake and see if the wheel locks up.

DJ, got mine from Southbank last week. Complete washer set in filter pack. When I asked for washers, saleman told me they came with filters. Not always. The last filter I ordered (via web) from A&S BMW didn't include a crush washer. A rep I spoke with said I had to buy it separately. Is the fac...

All engines emit condensation. On cold days condensation coming from an engine looks like white smoke. Most likely, the aftermarket pipe has no weep holes like factory pipes. Weep holes are tiny holes in the bottom of mufflers that allow condensation to escape. If water remains inside a pipe rust wi...
