ad hominem

Hmmm - In reply to various replies about my reply, this raises a number of issues. For 'socalrob' and 'GeoffJ' who are obviously curious about the worth of this antipodean upstart - I have been riding regularly for 37 years with no on-road offs (but numerous sphincter tighteners). Am a qualified mot...

ABS - don't try this at home!

How do you tell if your bike has ABS? Just find a really slippery road and jam on your front brake as hard as you can at 100 mph. If you fall flat on your arse you don't have ABS. Seriously, it really worries me that there are riders on public roads that have to ask someone else whether or not their...

I had a similar problem with the plastic fuel connectors. About 2000kls after the last (and final) dealer service I noticed a strong fuel smell after a ride. I found a leak at the connection - it was definitely the connector, not the clamps. Because I had previously read other posts about the type o...

tyres again

Hi yawl, Its interesting to hear the varying mileages (or K's) riders get out of their tyres and, as I have stated on this site before, astonished at the high mileages some riders get. I have been riding various bikes for 37 years and rarely get anywhere near ten thousand ks out of a set before they...

Oh that WA! Yes - vapourisation definitely not a problem. Sorry about that, I didn't look at the flag hard enough. You know, old age and all that stuff. If the bike had carbies it would sound like a flat spot when cold; depends whether it is an ignition type dead cut-out sensation or a gasping mixtu...

Hi Saabster, Hmm, an interesting problem (not for you I expect) but more info needed. Different people describe the same symptoms differently so, how does "it has problems getting fuel" manifest itself exactly? Are you saying it only does it on the first hot restart of the day but not the ...

tyres

Hi yawl, Interested to read the various comments about tyres and I am astonished at the high mileages (eg 15000kls) some riders get out of their tyres. How do you do it 'cause tyres aren't cheap and it hurts to buy newies. I don't consider myself to be a particularly hard rider but my Bridgestone BT...

hugger hits

Hi bmbiker I must admit I am going off this hugger thing as I can't find one that is located in what I consider to be a satisfactory way. Having said that I appreciate that there are limited possibilities with the paralever rear end. The Metisse unit looks good, is ABS and locates in a similar fashi...

more hugger stuff

Well - I recommend that everyone try the URLs listed by DJdownhere just for the experience. What an eye opener. I was astonished at the heated interchange between several riders that led from the broken hugger episode. I haven't noticed anything like that on this site thankfully. Try the following f...

Ah, the prolific DJ - how are you. I am at (or, on, as we say) Buderim, Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Previous bikes were Dukes and Kwakas, and still have a 350 desmo and Cucciolo. Been riding for 37 years (and boy am I tired - boom boom). Yes - Geelong Carbon Craft are at Nerang (?) on the Gold Coast...

Yes thanks bmrider, have checked out 'streetfighters'. I have emailed 'Powerbronze' and am waiting for a reply. The streetfighter may be a powerbronze?? I'll let you know.

huggers

Hi yawl - this is my first registered comment although I have been reading the site since Jan. 2004 when I bought my R1150R. It is about to run out of warranty so I can begin to tamper with it. Love the bike apart from the left timing chain rattle on a hot restart. Have been through the tensioner th...
