Re: Towerworker, Tire report?

Almost forgot! Back from Texas last Wednesday. Bike and tires did great. Tomorrow I'll check my records and give you numbers on mileage. Just under 3600 total on trip. And I'll have to admit I'm challenged on posting pictures. Old fart syndrome I guess. Off top of my head I've 12K+ on the front and ...

Re: Clock replacement on cluster

Nice job. I do see one problem though..............you need to ride that bike more. Not many miles on the odometer!

Re: Beakster Bash "Sweet" 16!! - Franklin WV 5/15-5/19

I've not yet made a reservation as there is a slight chance of having to work Saturday but pretty certain I can switch days with a co-worker. So I hope to have that worked out in a day or two. Worst comes to worst I'll be there to ride Friday and will be at the dinner Sat eve, Franklin is little mor...

Denali Soundboard airhorn

Just got back from a 3600 mile trip to west Texas and back to Va. Bike ran flawlessly and weather was great. But twice during my trip I could have used a much louder horn. Distracted drivers etc. The Denali Soundbomb looks promising. Does anyone have any experience with this horn? The review I read ...

Re: Installing Engine Guards HELP NEEDED....

Steve if the bolt wouldn't go I doubt you stripped it. The case has just settled a slight bit when you removed the bolt. I think I remember having the same issue with mine but after a slight bit of help with the jack it went in. My guess would be that it's ok. And while you've got it apart.........g...

Re: Installing Engine Guards HELP NEEDED....

I assume you're talking crash bars? I installed Hepco Becker bars a few years ago on mine. A couple of the attachment bolts are basically holding the engine to the frame so care must be taken. You only do one side at a time. It may help to put a small hydraulic jack under the engine (the $30 jacks a...

Welcome to the R board! I'm a bit of an old timer here but still learn much from the members here. I've got near 94K on an '04 R. Never get tired of it. It's been reliable and easy to service. Most of what I've learned to do I learned from the members here. And I've experienced generosity from sever...

I'm leaving for west Texas in three weeks. I expect to put 3000+ miles on them by the time I get home. Pretty sure I'm OK.

Re: Alaska (Tires)

TW the pictures don't open on my computer so what do you think you have left to go on the rear? That mileage on the front is about what I've gotten out of my street tires. Seems I always have worn the fronts out first for some reason on this bike. Can you right click and see them? Measures near .25...

Well obviously my talents for posting pictures haven't improved. You can right click on the Image tag and see the pic. Looks like I've well more than 60-70% tread remaining.

Re: Alaska (Tires)

I must apologize for my forgetfulness in getting back with my mileage numbers on my Shinko 705's.

Installed the front 10/28/17 @ 86,400 miles. Currently 93,339 miles on R, 6,939 miles on front today
Installed the rear 5/11/18 @ 89,136 miles. 4,203 miles on rear currently

I'll pull the book tomorrow (under cover right now) and double check the install miles and current mileage. I'll report back with current miles and tread depth remaining.

Re: Alaska (Tires)

I've got 705's on my R. I'm going from memory but I think I've got 4K+ on front already and maybe 3K on the rear with little apparent tread wear. I'm leaving for west Texas (from Va) in a few weeks. I'm probably looking at 3000 miles or a bit more before I get back home. I really like them so far. I...

I've the BMW touring screen. I'm only 5'9" but sit a bit higher because of the Sargent seat. I had a Laminar Lip but lost it on a high speed pass of a truck. Blew off, never could find it. I made my own using some scraps of Plexiglas from Lowes. I've set it to where I'm just looking over the to...

Re: BMW Dealer - Annual Fluid change cost - Wow!!!

The oil, gearbox and FD oil changes are dead slam easy. An hour or two tops. The ABS here in the states will cost probably $250, but there are threads that will walk you thru it. It's a few hours but not difficult. There's a "funnel" adapter that you'll need and that's easy to make too. Cl...
