Re: Fuel Line Quick Disconnect

The fuel line QD's are a very common failure point on the R's. Gt a set from BeemerBoneyard. I think about $100 last time I checked. They're plated brass and will last a very long time. Not difficult to replace.

Re: Cheap GS-911

I'm sorry you didn't get a response on your query. Sadly it seems few folks are still following this forum and wonderful resource. The 1150R is a wonderful machine. I'm on my 3rd R1150. Great bikes.

Re: Temp Sensor

I bought new stick coils from Euro Moto a couple years ago for my RT. Good folks to deal with. Half the price of BMW.

Re: R1150R Quit

Looked in the Clymer book. Apparently the Hall sensor controls only spark. You don't suppose a sidestand switch failure? That would be odd for sure. Just wondering what would interupt fuel delivery.

Re: R1150R Quit

So apparently fuel is getting to the injectors but sounds like it's not getting out of them into the cylinders (since there's no fuel smell in exhaust). I wonder if there is a loss of spark as well. I say that wondering if the hall sensor triggers the injectors (by way of the motronic) as well as th...

Re: AF-XIED? Spiegler brake lines?

I've installed Spiegler on my '05 RT. Oher than more plumbing with ABS I don't think it's all that different. Their stuff is great quality as well as customer service.

I believe there is an O2 sensor screwed into the top of the cat.

Re: Merry Christmas 2022!

Hi Gaijin! So good to hear from you! And happy belated birthday. You have me by one year as I turned 68 last weekend. I'm still riding, the weather here is getting nice. I think 60 today and low 70's (F) on Sunday. I wish we had more traffic on this board but so many of us have gone on to other bike...

Re: Clutch slave failure

It appears not many are checking this site very often. Me included. Apologies! I'm making an educated uess here and will say that if the clutch fluid has reached the clutch disc then the disc in contaminated and will need to be replaced. I've not yet had a failure there and am on my original clutch....

Re: Merry Christmas 2022!

Thanks Jeff! I don't get over here as much as I used to. But I'm trying to step that up. Weather is starting to get cold enough here to where I leave the bike covered more and more. Riding in really cold weather (like 30 or lower) is just not as much fun as it once was. But it's stll fun to get over...

Re: Hard Cold Start

Congratulations! I like the idea of the freezer and heat gun. One day I'll probably be trying to remember all this. I'm wondering what's the common cause for the need to rebuild? Is it the rider who flogs the bike with quick and often rolling the throttle? I guess I've done my share but as I get old...

Merry Christmas 2022!

I know there is a bit less attendance on this board then in days past but there are still a great number of 1150's on the road. And it still seems like one of the easiest BMW's to own and maintain. I'm quickly approaching 68 and I've been riding BMW's since '01/03. I started a bit late in my riding ...

Re: Hard Cold Start

I've never yet had to rebuild one. 100K on my last R with no issues like that, 60K on my current '05. I guess if I keep on riding it's bound to come. Let us know how it went.

Re: Any new maintenance work done?

Sorry I'm so late in posting again. Old fart syndrome is getting to me I guess. I've lots of good intentions but geez it seems like I get distracted so easily and there I go. Yeah thinking riding a bike saves money right? Nope. Doesn't take long for folks to realize that a bike can be a higher cost ...

Re: Blue paint bubbling and peeling off cylinder heads

I had a Ferro blue '04 with the blacked out engine. In 18 yrs and well over 100K I never had paint just "bubbling" or lifting off the calve covers which I think are magnesium. That being said I did repaint them several times due to damage I caused. For a time I was recovering from an illne...

Any new maintenance work done?

With fall here I'm wondering if anyone has any maintenance projects for the fall/winter season? My bike continues to run great with no major items needed although I had to order oil from Amazon a few days ago since it's (for whatever reason) difficult to find Castrol 10W40(dino) locally. For a while...
