Re: R1200R - would it be a wise choice?
I have no complaints about my 2009 R1200R. It does everything that I need it to do. Week long tours in the mountains, rides around town, twisties with my friends. To be realistic there is no reason to worry about power or speed on the street. I have been to the track and got to 180 km/hr and there w...

Re: tipped over
The heads can be painted to fix the scratches as well. I will have to hunt down the info. We found it on a GS forum after my bike what tipped over while parked.

Re: R1200R vs. R1200GS
Before I pull the trigger on a very nice '09 I'm looking at, or even a brand spanking new R1200R in RED, how do they compare/handle etc., with a 1200GS. I rented the GS in AZ last month, and to be really honest, I didn't like it at all. Very clunky transmission, Way to heavy, although it certainly ...

I had the Pilot Roads on my bike when I got it. Just replaced them this spring with the Pilot Road 2...I got 20,000 km on my original tires and hey could have gone a bit longer.
Looking forward to see what I get on the new ones

Re: Why BMW?
When I was looking for a new bike I knew that I wanted a bike that would suit the type of riding that I enjoyed. I needed an all round bike that I could ride in the city, hit the twisties and go on long distance rides. I narrowed it down to 3 bikes: Honda CBF1000, Suzuki Bandit and the R1200R. After...

I am lucky as the boyfriend has a 2008 Bonnie T100...my second bike is a 1982 Yamaha RD350LC...rebuilt the engine over the winter...hope to get it on the road a bit this summer if funds allow. We have 4 bikes in the garage 3 of which I can ride. The 4th is an 09 Harley Ultra Classic...way too big fo...

Part of it also could be because you are holding on too tight....if you relax when going over bumps slighly bent elbows, ease off on your grip and the effect through the bars is greatly reduced...

Another thought might be taller boots: http://www.daytona.de/english/boots_e/gore.html There is a US importer somewhere.. Googling will likely turn them up.. I tried on a pair of those Daytona boots...they do make a big difference in your ability to touch the ground and you can still use the contro...

Re: Time to say goodbye, for now at least
By the way I have to tell you that the KTM is going to be available here...not currently on the webste in Canada but I saw and ad for one in a Motorcycle mag last night... As for recent test rides I tried the F800R, R1200R with the Comfort seat, Honda CBF600 (new to Canada this year) I tested the CF...

We knew that you were partial to Orange.... I just took a peak the the KTM website...like many companies they keep all of the good stuff away from North America...that model is not available in Canada. Even if it was, my short inseam would prevent me from even taking a test ride... Glad I love my R1...

Rocket,
Just because you are selling your bike does not mean that you have to go...besides who will help us do the calendar for 2011 if you are gone?

My First Motorcycle Rally
Hey guys...yesterday I did my first motorcycle rally. It was a local rally and only 8 hours in length so I figured that it was a great way to see if it was something that I liked and if I had the knack for routing. Well I had a great time and did quite well (I was pleasantly surprised) This was a ty...

Re: dangerous test ride
I think that the Mulitstrada is a great bike and I wish that I could take one for a test ride...but alas the 33.5 inch seat height counts me out. I need leg extension surgery...lol Next weekend I am off to BMW summerfest here in Ontario. BMW, Ducati, Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki all provide test rides.....

Re: How satisfied are you with your Dealer?
My dealer Wolf BMW in London Ontario has been awesome. I recommend them to everyone that asks... One of the things around here is that almost every BMW dealer is a car dealer first and the bikes seem to be an after thought. With Wolf all they do is BMW motorcycles...makes a big difference in the lev...
