Re: Recommendations?: Point and Shoot
My vote is for a canon. I shopped and hit the reviews a little over a year ago. I really researched this in depth. I chose a canon A710 IS. Probably new technology out there now...seems as soon as you buy this stuff there is a new one to take its place. I chose a camera with image stabilization, sma...

Re: GPS recommendation
If you are looking for new, I just picked up a Zumo 450 from Costco online. Nice price at 350. Not a whizzy as the 550 but I did not need all the bells and whistles. The mount looks fantastic. I love that it is specificly motorcycle designed. Left hand control, touch screen and mp3 with jack for my ...

Re: Hello! First time BMW owner with a few questions...
Hi John In response to dropping the height. I gained about 1/2 inch by having my seat re-worked by a custom seat guy here in Oregon. But he gained me more than that by cutting the flare of the seat near the tank. By removing some of the width there, I can more easily get my legs straight down whch g...

Re: Clutch Spline Failure Analysis
I am sure you have all been waiting breathlessly to hear the outcome of my bike. I picked it up a week ago and have put almost 2000 miles on it. It runs flawlessly and shifts marvelously. I might be early in singing the praises of my dealership, but they have been terrific. It is currently out witho...

Re: Clutch Spline Failure Analysis
I have a letter ready to send as soon as I know the outcome of my own situation. I want to be careful to give facts and not emotion... allthough the emotion that accompanies this failiure is big business for BMW. The failure is only part of the problem...the way BMW deals with it may be the other ha...

Re: Clutch Spline Failure Analysis
It is down to the wire on my bike. It is currently just a matter of hours before I get the final word on what BMW will stand by, how my dealer will explain the problem, what the cost of repair is. My dealership has been great through this process. Kind, in fact, showing some empathy for what I have ...

No it is at Portland. My bike service has always been done there as I owned the bike before Scot and Madelyn came to Tigard.

Re: Clutch Spline Failure Analysis
this is really ticking me off.... I still don't have my bike back and I still don't have official word of cause nor do I have any assurance that problem will be REALLY corrected.... since we don't really know if it is too short of shaft, lack of lube, metalurgy or misalignment.... Today is ju...

Re: 2000 mile trip, REALLY need help.
I wonder about the audio book. I personally love to listen to audio books on road trips. But I can never hear my book while riding. Are my ears just bad or what? How do other people listen to it? I have custom ear plugs that go directly to ipod.(Ear Inc... ads in ON magazine as well as other public...

Re: 2000 mile trip, REALLY need help.
Not to hijack: but I want to add my two cents about audio book for ipod.... I just listened to The Art of Racing in the Rain on my most recent 600 mile day on i-90 to Gillette. It is a captivating story that is well narrated. It distracted my brain from thinking about my butt. (on my f650) I highly ...

Re: Clutch Spline Failure Analysis
Any machine that is designed for the average consumer that doesn't allow for deviation in user style is not engineered correctly. I don't remember getting the memo for the class on how to properly shift the BMW I had just purchased. I understand that there may be a few cases of abuse that have lead...

Re: Clutch Spline Failure Analysis
I had absolutely no sign my splines were about to fail. No clunk, no slipping, no whirring, NOTHING.... I was aprox 55 mph on a slight downhill. When I increased throttle for slight uphill...all hell broke loose. No power to the wheel.... Sounded like a tin can full of wildcats. I pulled clutch in t...
