Re: Do Wind Deflectors Work?
morrie, zamp, rockstercliff, GREAT info. I was sort of thinking about the Parabellum Scout. Can you tell me how it compares to the Aeroflow? I prefer the look of the Scout but I'm really more interested in cool weather riding and quieting things down during long rides. Around town the naked bike is...

Re: Throttle adjustment question
OK, Thanks guys. I'll adjust the slack side so that it's just taught and see if it matches the other side. Then I assume that I can play with it until I get fast idle in the first up position. Just FYI, I have found that riding the twisties with the lever in the first (fast idle) position eliminates...

How much weight did you save. I understand the stock muffler is very heavy.

Throttle adjustment question
My choke works but the fast-idle position doesn't. There is a little more slack in the cable on one side and I would like to snug it up. I think that would fix it and also remove some lag from the throttle, but I'm worried if that could get the throttle bodies out of synch.
Can anyone advise?.

Re: Do Wind Deflectors Work?
I have had the stock BMW sport shield with Laminar Lip. It looks and works pretty good, and I would be interested in selling it.. Before that I had a Cee Baily sport shield. Decent wind protection but some buffeting.. Last year I purchased a Aeroflow. It's the size bellow their full touring.. No bu...

Re: Crossing the ditch
Yeah, BMW makes a "comfort" seat which is an option at extra cost, or you can go with the standard:"discomfort" seat.

Re: Tank Wings
Zamp, you and I have a very similar set up. I hope to hear how these work out for you. Morrie, or others, the site says they use dual-lok connectors. Do these apply to the tank or the oil coolers or both? I can't say I am crazy about applying those to painted surfaces. On the other hand, looking at...

I have a ROHO Airhawk Comfort System inflation seat I'll sell for a good price. It really smooths out all the pressure points and can be adjusted to your preferred fit. PM me if interested.

Re: New to BMW - should i buy a 2004 r1150r
I have an 04 R1150R ABS with many aftermarket extras, roughly comparable to the one you are looking at. With 14,000 miles on it, I sold it six months ago for more than the price you quoted. I just bought it back with 14,500 miles, for slightly less than your price. I don't think you can get hurt too...

Re: Touring bike tips
I think the R1150RS was an excellent bike, which unfortunately did not sell well for BMW. It had a frame-mounted fairing and unlike the 1150RT, had partially-linked brakes so you could use the rear brake independently when it was proper to do so. You didn't have that option with the fully-integrated...

Re: Tank Wings
They are actually vortex generators. They capture the dirty air that comes up over the oil coolers and vent it out to the sides. Without them, that dirty air creates turbulence on the back side of the shield. Thus no matter what shield you use, or a laminar lip as well, you are going to have some di...

Re: Tank Wings
The significant difference I noted was the elimination of buffeting on the helmet. Comfort is increased considerably, and on a long ride the fatigue factor is significantly reduced. I lost one once and had to wait for a replacement. After getting used to them, I was surprised at the amount of buffet...

Re: Tank Wings
My guess is that they will make a significant improvement. I originally had a Parabellum shield and the tank wings eliminated most of the buffeting. I now use the Aeroflow touring fairing with the tank wings, and buffeting is a thing of the past.

Re: rerouting cables outside headlight bracket
I have the Aeroflow fairing and when I originally had one barback on top of another, I still didn't have to reroute the cables. I then added Wunderlich bars and had to install a new brake hose but the other cables and clutch hose were still long enough, running inside the forks.

Re: R1150R Center of Gravity
I didn't see any mention of frame spacers in this thread. The 1150R does not have an adjustable seat. The 1100 and 1200 R bikes have seats that are three-way adjustable for height. The only way to lower the seat on an 1150R is to buy the BMW low seat, or perhaps get an aftermarket seat that is desig...

Re: R1150R Center of Gravity
Compared to the GS and RT, the R has a considerably lower center of gravity and is quite a bit lighter. If it still is a problem for you, you might consider getting the BMW low seat which will move all your body weight lower as well. It's unfortunate that BMW did not make the seat height adjustable ...

Re: t Ztechnik windishield and Aeroflow tanks wing, aerogaurds
I have the Aeroflow shield with barbacks and it was no problem to mount. In fact I now have one set of barbacks atop another and still use the Aeroflow. You just have to find some longer bolts. I can't recommend the Aeroflow shield/tank wing setup enough! it is absolutely marvelous. Buffeting is a t...

Steering damper
Does anyone know if the steering dampers fitted to 1100Rs can be retrofitted to an 1150R? BMW put them on the the 1100 and 1200R but not on the 1150R.

Re: New windshield
Have you considered the Aeroflow? I tried three different shields and couldn't get rid of buffeting. The Aeroflow with tank wings to divert the dirty air over the oil coolers on my 1150R solved the problem. Aeroflow costs a little more, but it's smooth as silk behind this shield.

Wunderlich handlebars with risers.
I already have bar backs installed. Does anyone one know if the Wunderlichs would require longer cables when used with the bar backs? I'm told some people have used cables from a GS, but the local BMW dealer is not familiar with this.
