Re: Time for a change
If it's the same as the old F650GS single cylinder/twin spark model..... then YES, YES YES! SUPERB bikes, a genuine all-rounder - the engine starts off a bit lumpy and vibey at low - medium revs, but let it really sing and it smoothes out very nicely! 100+mph is actually rather fun and they'll hand...

Re: Time for a change
Never thought of buying antifreeze! If we have another December like last where it never broke above freezing all month you could be right! Yep Kristi, great shame they couldn't stay together. Nice to have options. Will be back with a ride report once it's run in and all settled down. Feeling very g...

Re: Time for a change
Well, new bike finally arrived. Here's a pic of the outgoing R and incoming G together at changeover. Sad to see the R go but having fun on the new one. Very different as you'd expect and it'll take a while to get used to the smaller engine. Miss that roll on power but that said the G is great fun a...

Re: Time for a change
Consider my bubble intact. Mpg isn't really an issue but 78 sounds good to me after 50 so I'd be pretty happy with that.
Rode it for a couple of hours. It felt good, looked good and it put a smile on my face and really, that's all it has to do.

Re: Time for a change
650 is very smooth for a single. Took it out for a couple of hours and didn't want to give it back so placed my order.

Time for a change
Well guys, haven't been around for a while but thought I'd drop by to say I'm swapping bikes after just over 5 years of ownership. The 1150 has been a great bike to run but it's time for a change. Saw the new G650GS this week and thought I'd go for it, so am staying within the Beemer family but losi...

Re: Thank God for German heavy metal
Thanks Everyone. I am sore today but not too bad considering. Had a proper look around the bike and it does seem mainly cosmetic tho as you say Wayne, you can't always tell just by looking. The repairers are expert bike assessors so I'll just have to wait for the verdict. Time for another hot soak I...

Re: Thank God for German heavy metal
Cheers Guys, Bike doesn't look too bad considering the impact. Hell of a thing, he said it was like hitting a wall. I'm convinced that right pot saved my leg so now this means I can never ride anything but a boxer....ah well ;) I'm pretty sure it'll be fixable quickly so I can get back out there. It...

Thank God for German heavy metal
Well it was my turn today. My own fault. Managed to pull out on a pick up I thought was indicating left but it wasn't. Dark morning , wet and greasy roads. I just sat there with nowhere to go once I realized I wasn't going to make it and watched him slide right into me. The right head took the impac...

Re: Hot town, summer in the city...
My wife has a lot of pictures of me a surfboards in very similar positions...I usually spend more time swimming around it than standing on it. That or going through the washing machine up the beach...
Lovely shots again.

Re: Yosemite
Great stuff Michael! Oddly I watched a program about two young guys doing a 1200ft speedclimb climb in the Verdon Gorge France last night. Scary as hell to watch as they launched themselves upwards to grab onto tiny holds. In once case literally a finger tip in a hole was all there was for a hold an...

Fantastic as ever!
I love the shots of the old cars and Paul. We had a couple of weeks camping here but it's been raining on the UK more or less continuously for two months now
:-(

Re: Dealer Prices
This is the bulb that's almost been illuminating my plate for the last year
Got it from a local car parts place for 60p. Might not be as bright as the halogen but it passed the MOT.

Re: Dealer Prices
Croc,
My numberplate light went and I stuck a small normal 5w replacement bulb in instead of the 'solid gold' halogen. Works fine, bit dim but it'll pass the MOT. 60p....
Also Carbon Lorraine racing pads works great, £12.99 a pair.
OEM pads from Motorworks £22 a pair for fronts.

I love my R
Well I've had the R for 2 years this week coming. Ridden it all winter without cleaning and a couple of hours work saw it gleaming like a new pin again. Only deterioration I can find is a little pitting on the forks and bottom of he engine case where the stones and salt have got at it. Otherwise it ...

Re: Valve adjustment frequency
Well I've serviced everything on my 03 myself except for valves and tb sync which haven;t been done since 6k. It's not rattling and it runs fine so I plan to leave well alone.
