I had something similar happen, but it was also accompanied by surging like behavior in second gear at 2500 to 3000 RPMs. The problem a blown ignition coil on the right side. The bike was smooth as ever after that was replaced -- no stalling or surge symptoms. SJ BMW did a nice job with tracing down...

Stopped leaking. I don't see any trace of oil at the bottom of the filter. :D
It has to have been the couple drops of oil that got squeezed out when putting on the filter.

I'm happy.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

I sure hope that's not the case.

I'll keep monitoring it for the next 1000 miles or so before I change the oil and filter.

The old gasket came off with the old filter. I'm sure about that.

Maybe the new gasket failed to take make a proper seal for some reason?

Take some carb cleaner and spray it up into the recess of the oil filter housing (the filter remains in place) to remove any residual oil. Repeat this a couple of times to ensure you have removed any lingering oil. Take the bike for a ride and see if it leaks. If it does, then there may be somethin...

Minor oil leak after oil change

Changed oil (and filter) on my '04 RR the other day. At the end of the test ride I noticed a drop of oil hanging at the bottom of the oil filter. At the time I thought that was just residual stuff that got squeezed out as I put the oil filter on. However, I do notice a fresh drop of oil hanging at t...

Started off with a Sport Screen. It was terrible - lot of noise and wind against the helmet - took it off the same day. Luckily for me my dealer let me swap it for a Touring Screen off one of the used bikes. I have to say that the Touring Screen works much better. I have decided to keep it on all th...

I recently completed a coat-to-coast ride (Massachusetts to California) on my '04 1150r. It was about 3500 miles in all. I have to say that the RR is a fantastic touring bike. I'm sure you will say the same at the end of your ride. The only thing I would do differently is to invest in a good afterma...

I went with the E45 (cheapest). Does the job. I can fit a Darien Jacket (XL) with back protector + Darien Pant (size 38 with hip pads) into it. I have put SOLAS reflector tapes on the top case. Looks all right.

(My helmet + winter gloves fit nicely in the right system case.)
