Re: Arkansas inmates: Information Please !

The good folks at i bmw have a ride there yearly. Here is a link to some reports that may give you some ideas. Beautiful region, just a little soggy at the moment :( .

Sounds like a great trip. Glad the oil leak didn't stop the fun!

Re: Pilot Road 2's - Odd tire wear..

Hey! Don. I've have read of a couple folks getting that wear pattern on PR2's where it is speculated unique circumstances are in place as you are describing. On the two sets I used there was only minor feathering across the front tire sipes. I say screw the belt sander and make another run to the mo...

I didn't say it was acceptable, just that it could happen and in fact the reported leak indicates to me that this one has.

Re: Rear Seal Leak

The post is a little open ended as to what is leaking, but if I had such a small amount of oil visible over so many months I would not cancel the trip. Any seal can fail at any time, but as described there is no reason to indicate this weeping should ground the bike immediately. I would make sure al...

You and two other riders I met recently shared the same good results with this brand. Please give an update when you have a few more miles. The price is hard to beat!

Re: Anybody here have a sportbike?

That is a lot of motorcycle for the $. The old BlackBirdXX was a great platform for light touring work, but it was a different design group/platform IMO. My recent track school on the R was enjoyed with riders on BMW R/S, KS, KRS, LT and even a G650 as well as all the ape's, Duc's and UJM's. I just ...

Re: Side stand overnight

I would not worry about using the side stand when it is the most stable option. Where did an hour come from for safe use??? I can think of many situations where a few seconds would be pushing it and others where time is never a concern. The center stand is an option on our bikes and many bikes don't...

Re: Wanting a R1200R

The XR is a nice offering from HD, but a tool for a different job. DaleK has a great bike and used r12's are nicely priced making for a super value, may take away the hit/sting from trying to move your XR so close to the initial purchase too.

Good luck, the r is a fantastic bike!

Re: Red Light Woes

NC just added a section for motorcycles being allowed to proceed on red when it won't cycle to green. At times I have set my side stand down on the trigger wires that you can see in the pavement and this works (?) for the older systems in our town. I would wait for the light to cycle one time and th...

Re: Oh, No - More Tire Talk... Have you ever used a Dunlop D616?

I think they were the original tires used on the Buell Ully prior to the Pirelli Scorps. There was a Triumph rider that posted 1-2 years ago on one of the Boards that said he liked the 616's, nothing other than that one report that I can recall. Try it out and swop if it sucks

Re: Multi grades of fuel from single dispenser

MPG results are more likely to be from ethanol content, etc. Octane rating has to do with resistance to pre ignition, (detonating, pinging), not that 91 has more "power" than 87 octane. Most modern engines use sensors that can detect the nocking and adjust the engine management systems to ...

No, just ride and enjoy her. 200 miles is not even a tank of gas worth of use and the conditions you will "subjecting" her to will be nothing compared to a bike getting broken in while riding 600 miles of stop and go city traffic.

Have a great trip!

Re: New BMW roadster! F800R

Hey! Mark.

Looks like they laced some Excel rims and installed "trials" type dual sport rubber much like the Triumph Scrambler came with. Has that kind of design theme to it. They're "not bad" on pavement and work fairly well for mild gravel/dirt riding.
