Scratch removal !
Hi all and Happy New year !!!!! I just discovered a 40cm long scratch on my tank, the scratch is nail catching deep and the white color of the primer can be seen ! Anyone out there in cyberspace have any experience on removal of such scratches without a full tank paintjob ? some sort of "magic&...

Re: Rentals in Toronto ?
Thanks for the replies !
The GTA exotic car and moto rental has some nice choices !
Although I'm tempted to go for the Ducati, I'll probably rent the EX 250 for the test, and
treat myself with a Ducati weekend once I get the license at hand

Rentals in Toronto ?
Hey all, I just moved to Toronto and I'm in the process of getting an Ontario M license. The ministry recognized my European experience so I only need to take a Highway test for a full M license. I'm not ready to buy a motorcycle (R most probably) just yet, so I'm looking to rent for the test. Anyon...

Importing a motorcycle to Canada from Europe ?
Hi all, Does anyone have any experience with importing motorcycles to Canada from Europe ? There's tons of info for importing from US to CND but not Europe... After reading posts in many blogs, there's supposed to be a list of motorcycles that don't require conversion or modification to be VIN compl...

Re: Bike just stopped running!
Check for blown fuses as well as the fuel line for bents (when you put the tank back, you may have accidentally caught the fuel line between the tank and something). Not sure how to check the injection control board, but if it fails then indeed the bike just dies... Just replaced one on my car, and ...

Re: Mini DIN plug
Is the socket hard-wired to the battery terminals without any switch in between in R1150R? Yes, unswitched (always hot) through a 15 amp fuse in the fuse block which also supplies the clock. I believe it's the third fuse from the left hand side in the row of fuses . You have nice taste in VOM's as ...

Re: HP gains
I have the K&N Filter plus the free intake kit, the change is noticeable, but in the end of the day I'm still riding a 2003 R with 70somethingplus HP :( If your HP isn't enough, in the long run you will better off with a different bike, the new R has the extra kick the old one is missing... Ride...

Re: EzPass Jerks!
There is no EZpass tag for motorcycles in these parts, our version is a magnetic card that we simply hand to the toll booth guy

In any case, if I had to mount a tag I would try the fender...

Re: Sidestand play or not to play
Hi, There is no wiggle in my 2003 R. Both side and central stands have a very firm feel to them. Ride Safe! Demetre While cleaning...I noticed some play in my sidestand. It has a wiggle-jiggle at the pivot that is bigger than I expect. I have never noticed it before. But I am not sure that I have ev...

Pirelli Diablo Stradas. See the article linked and you too will be a believer. http://www.bikeland.org/articles/Diablo%20Strada%20and%20Roadtec%20Z6.pdf Hi, After reading the article it appears that the Z6 will outlast the Diablo except from the rear side wear (data from the graphs), which can be b...

Re: Time for a new battery?
I replaced the original 2003 battery a month ago. It had started to become a bit hesitant while starting in the morning... As the R needs a healthy battery for so many things including the ABS, I replaced it before I experienced the side affects of a dead battery... Better safe than sorry... Ride Sa...

Re: replacing Stock air filter with K&N
There's a lot of talk about the benefit of replacing the filter. In any case, I'll agree with you that just the filter will not do much for performance, however making access to cold air easier does improve engine performance. This would require more than just the filter. Many will argue that oil fi...

Re: replacing Stock air filter with K&N
There is an interesting test on the net: http://home.stny.rr.com/jbplock/ISO5011/SPICER.htm Not our kind of engine or type of filter, however it does give you a good idea ! If you remember the URL for the analysis you mentioned, I'd love to see it. In any case, it is truth that there's always a down...

replacing Stock air filter with K&N - Update
More than a year later I went through with it, paid 270 Euro and had the kit installed ! The R now sounds much sexier (the air intake sound is really cool!) and the throttle reacts much better and smoother now ! Haven't really checked gas consumption yet, but who cares as long as the R runs better :...

Hi Robert,
It's not uncommon to see WWII R's in use today in Athens...
With proper servicing the R can outlive us all :-)
