Battery or starter
I've been having trouble starting my R lately. If I put the trickle charger on overnight and then attempt to start it, the bike turns over a couple times and then there's a quick series of clicks. I put the charger back on for about 15 minutes and try again and can then start it. Yesterday, I got th...

How many?
How many of these are there to check? With my luck I'd check 3 of 'em and have the 4th (assuming 4) be the "tie that binds".

Installation
darcym: Great looking mirrors, thanks for the part numbers. Were they hard to install (i.e. any modifications required to existing RR hardware?) You do need to use something like a Dremel tool to shave off part of the lower plastic on the left side mirror. this is needed to allow the choke lever to...

Mileage
My mileage is less than 150, at least I think so. I once got around 141 after riding with the warning light on for about 5 miles or so. Lately my mileage has been less before the warning. More like 115! But, I think that's because I recently discovered a slow leak in my rear tire that has resulted i...

Re: pathetic examples
early one chilly wet sunday morning i was headed downtown, about a minute out, i had just come over an overpass and was probably doing at least 20 ... i watched in amazement as the first 2002 r1150r in chicago flipped 3 times. it was still running. tore off peg tips, signals all around, gouged both...

Re: Battery charger
Hi, I'm thinking about getting a batter charger that plugs into the little electricity port on the side of the bike. This seems like something that one would really want to have given that it is kind of a pain to get at the battery. Am I missing anything, or do you pretty much need a charger? Espec...

Rear tire pressure question
I'm noticing that about every 2 weeks I need to put in quite a bit of air in my rear tire. It get's down to about 15psi in that time frame.
Anyone else see this? Should I take it in and have a tech search for a leak?
This is probably why my mileage is so low

No touchie the paint! Looks great too since it conforms to the contours of the tank.

Synth or not
"BMW does not recommend synthetic on either Boxers or K-bikes until the 12K service interval." Pneuby - Where did you hear this? My dealer (Bob's BMW) put in synthetic at my 600 mile service. The idea that bikes or cars need "break-in oil" has long since gone by the boards. Many...

Insurance works!
My wife took a spill at a track day learning, ironically, how to ride better. The 650 she was riding had over $2000 damage! I was shocked considering the low speed (under 20 mph) she was travelling when she went over. I had it towed to the local shop here and they said I could try for insurance but ...

Good online store
I like Twisted Throttle: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/. I've bought top cases, tank bags, and a couple other things for both my bikes. Good quality, good pricing. I saw them at the national rally and they were nice people too.

Dear Abby, I've never written to you before, but I really need your advice on what could be a crucial decision. I've suspected for some time now that my wife has been cheating on me. The usual signs... phone rings but if I answer, the caller hangs up. My wife has been going out with the girls a lot ...

Regional pictures
This is a super picture. I hope you don't mind but I grabbed it for my album. This reminds me that I wanted to suggest that maybe we post pictures of our bikes in classically regional settings to make up an r1150r album. For example, living in New England I rode by a gorgeous flaming orange-leafed t...

YMMV - Literally
Things that I've found affect mileage: - City vs highway traffic - Whether you have a good windscreen or ride totally naked (watch it now! You know what I mean  ) - Proper tire inflation - Proper maintenance - Engine speed I've found that I typically get between 32 and 37 mpg. Once I g...
