MO Twistys

I'm just on the eastern side of KC in Lee's Summit. Where are you?

Search for twistys in the midwest

I've been absent from this site for the summer months since moving out to MO from NJ. My search for twisty roads in this part of the world is gaining momentum, albeit at the wrong time of the year. The search is here:

Rockster Windscreen

I have the tall Wunderlich windscreen on mine and have to say it does make riding long journeys much more comfortable. I tend to take it off, leaving just the mounting brackets in the summer.

Send me a PM if you want pictures.

Riding near Kansas City

Is there anyone on this board from the area around Kansas City?

I may have a chance to relocate to that area and I was wondering what the quality of roads are like?

If Deals Gap is a ten on the twisty scale, what would the roads in this area be like?

Rockster Touring

Did a 4400 mile trip on my Rockster last year. All I added was the Wunderlich Windscreen (it broke my heart adding the windscreen to the bike, but was definitely worth it), a Sargent seat, BMW System Cases and a Marsee tank bag. I also used the Helen2Wheels bag. This attaches to the rear seat and th...

Tic Tac is right about the pillion seat. There is little room left for the little lady with most topcase set-ups. They sit too far forward. I use half a sheep for long trips. I apologise in advance for this comment MIXR, but do you take the half sheep instead of the little lady? If so is it the fro...

Oscars

Yes, the Oscar ceremony is a prime example of falseness, fake emotions, and lying, but there are plenty of other examples where those qualities are displayed, and usually in forums carrying a lot more importance than a mere movie award ceremony. By the way, the best film winner, Crash, is one of the...

Sargent Seat

I have the Sargent front seat and stock rear on my Rockster and they fit together fine. The Carbon FX is also a close match with the look and feel of the stock material used.

The Sargent seat is a great upgrade over the original for long range comfort.

Headlights

Both bulbs are the same on the Rockster. They are H1's. I got a set of PIAA Xtreme White Plus on ebay, and they seem much brighter to the oncoming traffic. I'm not sure if it actually lights up the road better.

Worlds Fastest Indian

This film is now getting a wider release in the US although I still had to travel 30 miles to find a cinema showing the film on Saturday night. The bottom line? It's a wonderful film, well worth seeing whether you're a bike nut or not. Anthony Hopkins is great as Burt Munro. He portrays the characte...

LED Brakelights

Great write up. I also purchased the BRAKE LED unit with Clear Alternatives lens. Santa Cruz BMW were selling them at the current Motorcycle Show tour of the US. On the one chance I had to ride the bike since I did the install, I did notice people staying further back in heavy traffic, so it definit...

DJ, that is some windscreen on that bike. Is it parked in that location because of the height restriction of 2.2 M? :D

Barber Museum

I visited last April, and it is an incredible place to visit. I've never seen such an amazing collection of bikes.
The best one has to be the Britten though- unbelievable looking bike.

I did take many pictures that day and can post them on Smugmug if you like.

Re:Over the hills and far away

Doug, The guys I rode with that day went back 2 weeks later in the middle of November and got to the top. They echoed your comments about the ride up to the top of the mountain. I was annoyed that day that I did not take the camera with me, there were plenty of photo opportunities with other aspects...

Over the hills and far away

Apologies for posting this a little late, and it's also a little wordy, but here goes........ Sunday, October 30th certainly didn't begin as an epic day out. Setting the alarm for PM instead of AM was just the start of it but fortunately some inner voice forced Slackbladder to wake up just fifteen m...

I would get the Quest again as far as performance vs value is concerned. If value is not an option, it would be the TomTom Rider.

GPS

The only problem I ever had with the Quest was with a downloaded route from the PC. This route covered 1800 miles and had approximately 120 waypoints selected by me. The turn by turn data required to follow the waypoints I had programed caused the unit to freeze up and require long conversations wit...
