many thanks to you and all the member for many years of great information and community. i just sent in a donation for another life membership. last year I broke my foot and damaged my knee (not motorcycle related...bull dog issues) and managed a whopping 300 miles for the year. while I could not ri...

Re: Off Topic, but because i talk to you guys its here

Condolences to you and your friend's family. I like what was said about risk/reward. Riding is great, but I understand anyone hanging it up for their own good reasons. There are other things to life too and in the end it's entirely personal. I would like to add my condolences for the loss of your f...

Re: yet another fuel strip saga

" On my '09 (which you now own Michael) I never had a problem. " that is a really nice bike! I got it to replace the R1100RS that my son launched last summer but I think I enjoy it more than he does. My 08 has a Hannigan on it (that's another story) and being lazy it is really nice to have...

Re: yet another fuel strip saga

the explanation really did not sound good to me.....i was just passing along the "words of wisdom"....i will not make the mistake of counting on the gauge anymore. i also got some super brite 1157's for my 08 R12 and for the 09R12 I got to replace the r1100rs who's parts now live on a moun...

yet another fuel strip saga

I have just had the 3rd fuel strip installed on my 08R12. this one, sadly out of warranty. I know that this is a recurring issue on top of being stupidly annoying from a company like BMW.... not to mention having to coast down hill several miles and end up in a cell phone dead spot late on a sunday ...

Re: Considering the R1200R. A few Questions

just to add my .02 it is a fantastic bike. of all the bikes I ever owned, not the smoothest but certainly in the top few and definitely one of the best handling and most fun. I have ridden it to So. Fla in the summer, Paris, Ak in July and it was over 100 much of that ride. no heat issues. I would s...

Re: lamp warning

the strange part is that they all work. parking light, hi and low front all the signals. I have not ridden much at night yet so I cannot tell if the low is getting weak will it be that obvious during the day or will it register a warning when the bulb begins to fade?

Hello. i have been getting the little yellow triangle warning and the onboard computer says service and then switched to lamp. so the brake light was out...I replaced it with a regular dual filament bulb and it did not cancel the warning. so I got an led bulb replacement from http://www.superbrightl...

Re: OEM tires: experiences, how long 'til I can get new ones

i got my new r12r in 2008 with Bridgestones and the rear went less than 1800 miles and the front was gone by 2700. switched to PR2's and after nearly 8k to PR3's they have been wonderful in all kinds of weather....not tried in this cold however but i imagine once they warm up they will do fine...exc...

Re: Bent Rim II

I had a bent rim on my R1100RS and I don't think the wheels have changed composition since then...it is my understanding that the alloy the wheel is made of needs to be heated and brought back to shape...smacking it with a hammer could put a crack in the wheel you may not see and that might end up b...

Re: Tried to avoid deer, hit furniture instead

lucky and good reactions...glad you are ok. road trash is not much fun...I definately agree that the r12r helped in that situation. I had one several years ago on an old K bike and I know for sure had that been my roadking I would not be here typing this. I think the r12r handles way better than the...

Re: front shock install question

I fianlly got the bike back together...between working long hours and outsmarting myself a few times it took a few days. I ended up removing the charcoal cannister, jacked up the front end until the wheel was off the ground. I removed the plastic shroud on the oil cooler and was careful not to let t...
