Re: Beating a dead horse here..

I just took her out on the highway for the first time today and I was very impressed. I have never gone much faster than 85 mph purely because of wind and buffeting. Today though....I zipped right up to about 110 before I realized it and started to back off the throttle. The fairing has made a huge ...

Re: Beating a dead horse here..

The Ceebailey looks like a nice screen and I probably would have gone with one of those if I were not a fan of the cafe racer look. My first motorcycle at age 16 (39 now) was a Kawasaki GPZ305 and then a Honda Interceptor 500 (not pictures of my actual bikes, just ones I found online for reference) ...

Beating a dead horse here..

I know one of the biggest problems or characteristics of the R1200R is wind deflection, or lack there of. I had the touring screen with a 1 inch riser on the front mount for the last 21000 miles on my 09 (I would have more milage but I spent the last year and half in Iraq). This made highway speeds ...

Re: Solved the windscreen dilemma

I here ya brother, naked is the way go for a less turbulent ride, but the touring screen (along with Don's Block) does help deflect a majority of the insects. Of course that is not really a problem until you get out on the back roads away from the city.

Re: Sargent Conversion Low Seat comfort for passengers

Unfortunately, I have only had 2 passengers on mine, each for less than ten minutes, despite my gallant efforts to woo women. I can't imagine it would be worse than the stock seat though.

http://www.iliumworks.com/Page.cfm It looks like they would go nicely with a set of the SW Motech crash bars > http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/3076/594/ They do seem to be a bit on the pricey side though, especially since you can buy a set of highway pegs with the crash bars for on...

To save anyone else the trouble of trying to find that windshield online (unless you read German, it is easy to find) I will post links below. Android owners, Navigation update

A new navigation app called NDrive is available in the market place that requires you to download and save the maps to your SD card. Hence, no data connection required for it operate, unlike Google Maps. I have yet to actually use the program yet, so I can not comment on its functionality, but it is...

Re: R12R VS F650GS: which engine is smoother?

I bought my 09 R1200R brand new and had to go through breaking it in. If you are getting a new one, vibrations can be a little rough. As the engine breaks in, it becomes much smoother and from what I hear, only gets better with time, mine certainly has. If I am not mistaken, you have the mickey mous...

Re: Got LOW Comfort seat..

When you order it do you ask for "The Low Seat"? That is the one seat I might consider trading my leather Rick Meyer seat for. Good for you. Mark Yes, I called and placed an order for a low non-heated seat and then shipped my standard sized seat to them to get re-made. Actually, I think I...

Re: BMW recalls over 15,000 motorcycles - Autoblog

I just got a from my dealer this morning telling me that my 2009 R1200R has been recalled concerning the brake line thingie. They said once they get the parts in, they will give me another call to schedule an appointment.

Re: Got LOW Comfort seat..

Ooooh pictures, I love pictures! I have some too. I posted these awhile back when someone asked about seats or maybe it was about the white paint job...anyways, I thought I would share again. Here is my low Sargent seat. I absolutely love this seat because I am a short bastard at 5'6", 29"...

Re: Lightweight cover for R12R

+1 on the http://www.kwikover.com/ I have been using one of these down in south Florida for a little over a year. My bike sits outside year round and is riden daily (unless there is a huricane). After a year of use in the Florida sun, the elastic straps have no elasticity and the cover itself is sta...

1. How satisfied were you with the purchase experience, including pre-purchase visits to the dealer? I am also a customer of 441 Cycle in Plantation (really close to Ft. Lauderdale) and I am have been very happy with this dealer for the last 2 years. This was my first (and only) time buying a BMW an...

Re: If you had to get rid of your R1200R

I just stumbled across the Aprilia Mana 850 GT ABS. Looks like it would be a good R1200R substitute, no idea though on how it actually performs.

Re: If you had to get rid of your R1200R

I have been lusting after a Ducati GT 1000, but only as a sunday ride, not as something that could replace the R12R. If I had to choose another bike as a daily ride, I would try either a R1200S or a K1200R.
