Old men? I'm 69 today. Great to hear Wayne talking about the syndrome. A friend had it and recovered.

Re: LED Bulbs - Update

Thought I'd cracked it with the Stop/Tail worked fine visibly.
But after a few yards on the road a brake warning light came on. I've got ABS. Replaced the filament bulb and had a great ride out into rural Derbyshire.

Re: Glad to see the site is back up

I'd like to make a one off donation via a debit card. Is it possible?

LED Bulbs - Update

Headlight, number plate light and front parking light have been successfully converted. Tried led bulbs in the indicators, hyper flashing, stop tail light, flickering. Passed those on or returned them. A new batch came with the wrong pin pattern, not as advertised. 1157-150° instead of 1157,replaced...

Re: Anyone else noticed this?

Fair enough, but the potential for jamming is there. BTW, my R1150R doesn't need something to assist with cruise control. As I've said to this disbelieving bunch, merely resting my hand on the grip hold the throttle open. And it closes smartly when released. So, as commented on, I'm just heavy handed.

Re: Anyone else noticed this?

No. I disagree with your premise on safety grounds. Imagine being under a bike with the throttle wide open? I've seen it happen during crashes of competition bikes. I can manage gear changes etc with my self closing throttle on the R1150R and did on all my previous bikes, and loaners, back to my fir...

Re: Glad to see the site is back up

Not half. I tried to find an alternative site with the same level of chat and information for the oil heads. Mostly for GS owners. 🙄

Re: Improved Gearshift

It's very expensive stuff in the UK. Made across the pond. I've tried a number of different oils and viscosities over the past 18 years or so.

Improved Gearshift

:-k Maybe it's because I am older and deafer or maybe it's the full synthetic 75/140 Shockproof Oil- but my gear shifting is a lot quieter.

Re: My R of 13 yrs has a new owner. And me a 2005 RT.

What a battle Wayne. A friend of mine recovered well from GBS and is still enjoying his vintage Austin. A younger friend collapsed and went downhill all the way with Parkinsonism and Motor Neurone Disease. I took over all the administration of his financial and welfare responsibilities. So sad and I...

Re: Engine whirr/whine

I found that 20/50 oil quietened mine considerably. You can hear the chain slapping for a few beats until the oil pressure builds up after an oil change.

Never noticed one before in my black engine casing. Had to drag my fingernail across and found the invisible bung as a soft bit in the housing.

Cable Ties- Again and Again- Back On Bike

Sorry to have been away. Not been up to using the bike for the past year. Feeling OK Now. After cleaning off the dust from the bike and washing it , I noticed splits in the outer cable sheathing around the steering head and up to the right hand handlebar switches, some splits are by cable ties. I cut...

Thanks Towerworker and Riceburner. I did not realise that clicking that link would open up anything, never mind those fantastic photo albums. As a random comment, I have visited the Massif Central- Mont Dore area on a camping holiday. A round of the European Speed Hill Climb championship was on and ...

48mpg on long runs in the UK.
That's equivalent to 40mpg in the USA.
My wife has just bought a brand new Kia Picanto. The trip computer was calibrated in US gallons. With a few presses of the buttons, mpg was transformed.

Re: Fork Gaiters

That reminds me of the last time I took my Triumph T90 down to the Council Yard for an MOT. They put webbing straps tightly around the gaiters, to hold the bike still - for a brake test iirc. They ripped the gaiters- but it did pass the test. Fortunately new ones were pretty easy to fit, if you mana...
