Re: R1150R VS R1100S

I've always had a soft spot for the R1100S. Interesting reading.

Re: Whats the Difference? V2

Riceburner, the reason I was talking to my mechanic a few days ago was that I had both ball joints of the duolever replaced under warranty, for exactly the low speed steering issue you described. I wasn't aware it was a commmon thing, nor had I read the "Recalls" thread. The mechanic said ...

Re: Whats the Difference? V2

There have supposedly been hundreds of small engineering refinements, but I doubt they make little if any difference. Obviously the newer version of ABS is available, as are the other newer options traction control. The gearbox is said to be smoother, which I think is due to modifications to the clu...

Re: The new green color.

Paul, I highly recommend a carbon remus revolution exhaust for the Rockster - looks and sounds great- I used to regularly get compliments on the sound from other bikers while riding around. Then again, it didn't sound sound anything like the amazing symphony created by the carbon akrapovic I current...

Re: K1200R or S

Hey wilrobasy, I also live in Brisbane, and I am extremely happy with my KR. I couldn't help but notice that all your replies had a slightly negative taste, but they were also all from ex K owners. As a current satisfied K rider, I'd like to try and rectify the balance. Sure, they have their quirks,...

Re: The new green color.

Called by a local dealer a couple of days ago, and in prime position behind the front window was a nice shiny '08 green apple KR. Impressive, but I have to say I'm a little let down. I still think that probably the sharpest looking KR I've seen had the dark graphite metallic panels on a black motor....

I have no intention of losing anything. I have have owned several bikes. Two of them have been beemers. As this is BMW domain, I praise their virtue. I also love the rush of extreme speed, and hate excessive babble.

Cheers

Yeah....... I had a look at the new Busa in the flesh for the first time yesterday. It sure has one sweet looking arse. They only had a black one, which at first I confused for the old model from the front. Love that shape, but the overall quality/look still seemed a bit disposable. I'd like to see ...

Congratulations raya, nice.... Mate, I too live in Brisbane and I was converted to BMW ownership 3 years ago. I usually ride primarily for pleasure, but was recently forced to wrestle my way into the city for 10 weeks of work (you know how changeable the weather has been in Brisbane during that time...

Thanks Martin. I'm no tech-head, but I imagine the gearboxes are very similar, or at least my local BMW dealer and all the posts on the K bike forums lead me to think so. I know of one difference, being that the gearing of the R is slightly shorter than the S, designed for harder acceleration but lo...

Pretty much the only time I post on this forum is when this topic comes up. I traded my Rockster for a K1200R 12 mths ago and I cannot stress enough how happy I am with the change. The Rockster was undeniably a solid all round good quality ride. The K12R is all that plus POWER. I'm just over 6ft and...

It happened twice to my Rockster, fixed first time under warranty. The first time I rode 350 km to a dealer to fix it, second time was only a 90 km trip. Wouldn't lose any sleep.

Keith sent me a wheelcap for my 80ed rockster, which on first inspection seemed a little snug and unwilling to fit into place. It was a simple case of being brave and giving it a good push, and hey presto, perfect fit. And for the record, as has already been mentioned, Keith is a great bloke and a p...

Just like you,I test rode a K12R when my rockster was in the shop to have a leaking final drive seal replaced (for the 2nd time).

I traded for a K12R a week later and have never regretted it.

You are a genius riceburner! From the moment I fitted the a centrestand to my rockster (yes, those springs were a huge pain) it always bugged me how the bars swung to the left. You just helped me regain some balance.

I had a Remus carbon can and y pipe on my Rockster, and couldn't fault the set up. I now have a carbon Akrapovic on my K12R, and I think the quality/look/sound/performance is even better than the Remus was.

The 2008 K12R will be available in all black, a green similiar to triumph speed triple, and current silver. Apparently they are now rolling off the production line. I saw some photos at my local dealers on the weekend - The all black DID look good, but personally I still prefer the look of my yellow...
