Re: Battery called it quits
I've had a MotoBatt for a few months. I've had no problems with it, but I keep it on the battery tender most of the time. After the first battery died (after two year and half years) I figured it would only help extend the lifespan, especially since I pretty much only ride on weekends and the bike i...

Re: Considering tank pads for my bike
Thanks for the info. Sounds like I might not like them. Still thinking it over though. At least they're relatively inexpensive.

Re: Booster Plug installation for the non mechanic.
yes, i could see the plug you are talking about on the air box. GREAT! now, where do you route the silver tube sensor thingy? That's your choice. Right now, mine is just taped to the outside air intake. I want to find a better place for it. I found this link which shows how a guy drilled a hole int...

Re: Booster Plug installation for the non mechanic.
I had a lot of trouble too. You don't actually remove anything, that is, the Booster Plug doesn't replace anything on the bike. You disconnect a plug from the top left corner of the airbox, then you plug the Booster Plug into that. The line you just unplugged from the airbox now gets plugged into th...

Considering tank pads for my bike
Any body tried these tank pads? http://www.wunderlichamerica.com/motorcycle/R1200R/1250701.html The example photo shows them on a white bike, which is what I have, and I think they look pretty good But what I really want to know, is do tank pads make the ride more comfortable. I never ridden a bike ...

After having gone for another ride, I think there is some improvement. It's subtle, but it's there.

Re: Booster Plug
I just installed mine too (finally). Right now, I've just got the sensor taped to the intake. I'll move it later if I decided to leave it installed. I took a short ride and I'm sorry to say I didn't notice much difference. I'll live with it a while though. I need to take a longer ride of the stop-an...

Re: Booster Plug
Thanks for the help. Now that I know where to look I can make another attempt. I just need to ride the bike to reduce the amount of gas in the tank.

Re: Booster Plug
I attempted to install a Booster Plug in my bike but couldn't figure out where to plug in the sensor portion of the device. I think I found where the other plugs go, but there seemed several possible candidates for the other "long metal thing" to go. If someone can tell me which of these w...

Re: Hugger
I have a Mudsling. I have no complaints about it. It was easy to install and it does the job.
I think a hugger looks better (the bike should probably come with one), but I didn't want to spend the money on the expensive carbon-fiber one, and I've heard mixed opinions on the Nippy Normans one.

In its latest incarnation with side cases, sport screen, and Rick Mayer seat. I would still like to get Ohlins and maybe an Akrapovic slip on.

Re: My motorcycle seat is too slippery
I knew the 500 miles would get a response. I admit I've ridden a lot less than I would have liked (for various reasons). But the fact is, I've owned a number of motorcycles (and seats) over the years and have never had the experience of sliding around like I get with this one no matter how many or f...

Re: My motorcycle seat is too slippery
How long have you had the seat? A little break in time can work wonders. You may just need to get used to the slightly different riding position, and the seat also will take on the shape of your rear after a few thousand miles. That's encouraging. I've had the seat since May, but I have ridden very...

Re: My motorcycle seat is too slippery
I've been riding for years with the BMW City pants.... It's not the pants. You could try what Don was saying about scrubbing it, or maybe scub it with a foot callous pad, or scotchcbrite or something not too abrasive. I'll probably try that. I've ridden other bikes with these pants and not had this...

My motorcycle seat is too slippery
I recently had my seat redone by Rick Mayer. I choose the vinyl "basket-weave" pattern to cover it with and now when I ride I slide all over the place. It makes riding quite uncomfortable. I don't know if different riding pants would help (I currently wear BMW's city denim pants), but I'd ...

Re: Water cooled GS spied
Additional complexity would be a downside, along with weight. Presumably the cost would be higher too. But for me, radiators just don't look right on motorcycles. They can design the bike such that the radiator is hidden (sort of) behind bodywork. But the less bodywork the better, in my opinion.

I ordered it untested. I'd never even seen one in person. I figured it couldn't be any worse than the stock seat.ContraMoto wrote:Did you ride in to Rick Mayer or order it "untested"...?

Re: Which is the best camera tank bag?
I also use a DSLR though I haven't taken it on my motorcycle yet. I was going to just put it in my soft Cortech side bags. And I've been considering getting the BMW hard side cases. They're really expensive, but I wanted to get them anyway; not only for the camera. Another possibility is to get one ...

Re: Pirsig's Endorsement?
I knew that following the BMW through Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance had to ignite some degree of passion for the marque. Pirsig actually rode a Honda on that ride. His friend, the one who rode with him part way--don't remember his name--was riding a BMW. See the picture posted a few pos...
