I'd much rather spend the money on a set of Öhlins than on ESA, only scenario I would consider ESA is if I got it basically for free on a used bike.
And yes, I've ridden bikes with ESA and bikes with and without aftermarket shocks.

Re: 2015 R1200R Water Boxer
I like that BMW doesn't sit on their laurels, not that I'm a fan of usd forks, but its not like I'm gonna have to get a new R anytime soon. My '07 only got 100000km on it and I figure it will last quit a while yet ;) either way, if I'm gonna change bikes I wanna change bikes, not just get a slightly...

Thanks guys! Thanks for listening. I felt the need to externalize... Woland: I'm with you, brother. I did the serious cancer thing 22 years ago, and it just made life, and riding, all the sweeter, every damn day. In fact I recommend everyone get, and survive, cancer, just for the philosophical gain...

Re: I just retired...
Glad you are ok under the circumstances, sad you decide to quit riding. Me I'm going the other way, after a scare with cancer this spring/summer I've reached the conclusion that I should spend more time doing things I like. So I figure more riding is in store for me. You never know when things will ...

Good stuff, 600$ is for sure a-lot less than 2300$.
I recommend you spending the difference on gas for the bike and take a long ride just to make sure everything is in fine working order

Re: Odd no start - siezed? Help
It isn't that easy to turn over the big twin with no compression (plugs out - to check valve clearances), and likely very difficult with compression. Besides being big cylinders - it's a high compression engine. Your symptoms are of a failed internal battery connector. They will look just fine with...

Re: Is BMW weaning us off Telelever?
how it was a miserable sales failure last time. Since the reason of its failure is easily identifiable in the most grotesque headlight ever, lets hope they resurrect it and doesn't repeat their mistake. I for one would be interested in a BMW sport-touring boxer that is more sporty than the RT and m...

Congrats on the early delivery date. That fairing looks good on the T.
Might be interested in the Mayer depending on price and shipping It would go to a good home...

Do you have a delivery date for "your" bike yet?
Heard from a local dealer that BMW apparently already have sold all the bikes for '14.

Re: Sport Screen vs no screen
I'm 6'4" so not quite as tall as TS, but I have most of my length in my upper body so the height of my head in relation to the bike and screen might be comparable. What works for me is first of all earplugs. Will not ride without them. Secondly I use the BMW touring screen. Gives a me a little ...

Your choice of new bike is acceptable to me on the condition that you promise to share your upcoming photos of it in various unsuitable environments with us ;) I'd love a R9T but I'm not yet at a place where I would be willing to give up my pinstriped R. Use my R as do it all and would not be willin...

Re: Cold weather exercise? To start or not to start.
The point is that you won't get the whole engine up to operating temperature and keep it there for a while, thus giving moisture a chance to evaporate unless you actually ride the bike for at least 20-30min. I never start mine during the winter (usually about 5months), and it always starts just fine...

Re: Oil pressure and temperature gauge location
For me - with 75,000 miles on my R12R - I don't get concerned about it. My bike has never gotten close to the top extended hash-mark. Use a quality synthetic oil that can take higher temperatures (look for the "ASH Point" rating - where the oil starts to carbonize) and forgeddaboutit. +1....

Re: OEM Touring Windscreen
I'm using it as well and I'm 6'4" with a high seat. Its at the size limit of what I consider acceptable on a naked bike. If you think you need more wind protection you don't need a bigger screen, you need a bike that's not naked

As for a hugger that I concur the bikes needs, I have the Ilmberger and if I'd do it again I'd get the Mudsling instead.
