Re: Centerstand bolt fail anyone?
Yup. Mine did, and the machine collapsed without warning when I pushed it off cente stand. Only damage was a slightly bent, still useable centerstand, and $117 mechanic fee including new bolt and bushing. Mechanic said bolt works loose over time, and then fatigues and shears. Check it occasionally.

Saved (again) by SW MoTech
I had a recent experience I would like to share - a crash that was surprisingly insignificant thanks to my MoTech crash bars. I like to warm up my 2009 R12 (30k miles) about every two weeks during the winter. During the latest warmup, I drove into a winter trap: the grooved wet concrete road descend...

Re: Seen in the wild - 3 July 2012 - Vermont state route 100
Hi Steve: One of my favorite lifetime moments was Vt Route 100 during the (Woodstock) summer of 1969. 42 Years ago, on a used Honda 305 U bought for 300 bucks! What a great ride. Newfane to Burlington. Kids, chickens, and cows, with a lot of neat (slow speed) sights. A beautiful state. Larsn UVM cla...

Re: R1200R Classic Non-ABS
OK,OK. I'll bite. My ABS has saved me from (at least) two dumps in 14000 miles. I didn't even realize I was panicking during a "panic" stop. The system just said: "Whoaa. Lighten up on the brakes." Quickly. It is really one of the most useful options I didn't want. (The other is ...

Re: How satisfied are you with your Dealer?
My dealer has been excellent - I bought my R from him - North Salt Lake, Utah - he did a free installation of Rox risers, and Suburban Machine foot pegs (lower 2") Service has been just excellent - free "loaner" bikes to get me back to work, gave me a free ride home (30 miles) after m...

Re: My R1200R is no more...
I did that last year - but I didn't have the heart (or camera nearby) to take a pic - I second what has been said already - Thank God your OK- the rest can be replaced with a little time and some money. Strangely, I found myself upset that I had let down all the German engineers who had entrusted me...

Re: The Home Depot Throttle Lock
The photo shows a thin O ring from Home Depot: A Delta Kitchen Spout Repair kit, DL 15: Cost: Two bucks. You get two rings. They work great. The second ring is a 320 size from McMaster Carr. Total cost including shipping ~10 bucks for 50. They are a little tight, but they also worked great on my tri...

Re: SW-MOTECH Crashbars/Engine Guards
I love my MoTechs. They look great, like they are part of the frame - like they are not an "add on." Like they are supposed to be there. You can also rest your legs on them while cruising. Stretch out. But the best part, they work! I had a fairly serious wreck and the Motech were "toa...

Re: Did you test TyreGuardian ?
Hey Don -
If the RideOn never dries out, and the machine stands unused for a couple of weeks (say in January), does the stuff drain to the bottom of the tire, get stiff in the cold and then unbalance the tire?
Just thinking ......

I have been meaning to get some opinions about stickered vs unstickered. Attached is my joy (one of em) - as you can see, unstickered. For those suspicious out there, it WAS in an accident that bent the bars into the tank, - the tank was replaced (part alone: US $1600+) Anyway, I was in a hurry to g...

http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt295/lnilssen/grvisit0310002.jpg Hi Stef: Last July, I had a "parking lot" accident - I was cut off at a local university by a speeding cyclist, (pedal powered) and my machine went down. I tried to keep it up, with my right hand, and the throttle opened...

Re: Farkle of the Year!
Those incredible German engineers put those black oversize dentist mirrors (I love em) on your handlebars for reasons we are not capable of understanding. (Same reasons as that huge gap between the rear tire and fender) --- beware - you will ride another 200 miles and turn into a fireball!

6'. 32" inseam. Dropped the foot pegs ~2" (suburban machinery) and used ROX risers to move the handle bars up and back ~1.5". Love this customized fit.

Re: The R1200R as a first bike.
Congratulations - In the old days we started smaller and "grew into" a machine like the R12R. That seems to be "old thinking," and judging from the number of successful first owners, maybe thats ok. Let me suggest something to think about: I believe the most dangerous phase of ri...

Re: The Kill Switch - a safety lesson learned the hard way.
That was my question about falling on the clutch lever, I assumed when you crashed you eventually had to let go of the clutch which would have killed the engine? How/Why did the motor keep running. Inquiring minds want to know! By the way is there some sort of tilt switch as I was not aware of that...
