Re: Atlas Mountains, Morocco - anyone have any advice pleas
hah! I just got back from Morocco, and I just posted the message below on the BMW MOA site: -------------------------------------------------- So, I did a 4-day solo motorcycle trip from Marrakech, south through amazingly twisty mountain roads, and then through the rocky desert south of the Atlas mo...

Re: Can you ride on the highways with the sport shield?
I'm seriously considering making the move from an 06' Sprint ST to an new R. Living in South Florida there are a lot of flat, straight highways that get you from place to place. Speeds of 80-90 are routine and my Sprint is in it's sweet spot at about 85. (My old K-RS's sweet spot was about 90) For ...

Re: Too Much
I was just in my local dealer's showroom the other day, and saw a new R1200R on the floor. Before I could engage my brain, I did a double take, thought to myself what an awesome looking bike it is, and then got a warm glowing feeling as I realized it was the same bike I already have! ....made me wan...

It's not the extended cab you want, it's the long bed. If anything, the extended cab - on the same truck frame - results in a shorter bed.

Thanks, guys. Yeah, the rear wheel hanging off scares me...
I guess I just need to make sure I get an extended cab, regardless of make/model.
Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Is This a Comfort Seat?
Hey Rockbottom! Nice to see you here. I went from the F800ST to the R1200R last summer. You're right, the R1200R IS utterly brilliant. This is a great forum - informative, friendly, supportive. (I found the F800riders forum to be the same way) I miss a few things about my old F800ST, but I'm really ...

Re: Tieing down.
Has anyone had experience tieing down the R12R on a trailer or in the bed of a pickup? Where are the best points? Is there anything I should especially look out for? Along these same lines... eventually I'd like to buy a pickup truck with a bed that's big enough for my R1200R. Any suggestions for g...

Re: Shiny Granit Gray
What would folks use to polish out scratches to the magnesium piston head covers? I've got some scratches on one side that I'd like to take out. Would Blue magic be appropriate for that? No. Blue Magic will polish them to a mirror finish, but it is way to fine to remove scratches. How to fix them d...

Re: Any vibe-free mirror solutions?
I replaced my stock bar end weights with a heavier pair from Manic Salamander. I did this to stop the tinglies, but it also smoothed the mirrors a bit. Hi All, I have a brand new set of bar end weights that I had purchased for my F800ST, but never got around to using (I traded my F800ST for my curr...

Re: How satisfied are you with your Dealer?
I'm very happy with my dealer Greater Boston Motorsports for sales. I've had really good experiences there with my salesperson - treated well, etc. Less happy with them for service. I've been taking my bike up to Max BMW in NH for service these days. Only about 60 miles north of me. I am male; the b...

Re: If you had to get rid of your R1200R
Most likely a K1300R with ABS. I owned previously a K1200R but without ABS. With the ABS feature I would have never sold this bike. A wonderful touring bike which fit my frame perfectly but safety at my age is very important so after two light mishaps which never would have happend with ABS, I opte...

Re: F800GS Opinion
I agree. I think the F800 engine is awesome.
I am currently on an R1200R (which I love), but I came from the F800ST, which I still think is a great bike.
I loved that it had a belt drive. Transmission felt really smooth. I think the F800 series is a winner, too.

What is the best way to remove scratches from the side pannier cases? I keep hitting them with my boot getting on and off the bike. Thanks, Me too (about hitting with boots)... Re: Panniers bags - anyone got them and are they good?
I treated my new R12 to a set of Kathy's bags from Bob's BMW. Available in several colors, they are very attractive and well made. In use, you can stuff the liner to the gills, and know that it will fit in the panier. Also very convenient to carry from the bike to the tent or whatever. I just came ...
