Re: Questions from a prospective buyer

Welcome aboard zend. I'm on my third R1200 R and they are great bikes. I would still be on my first but for an edge trap in Ludlow VT a few years back. I would still be on my second but it was a lowered suspension model and not so comfortable for riding. Plus, my new one is blue. It's the best one y...

Re: Long Distance with the R1200R

Strong logic, Kevin. Strong and incontrovertible. Don, you should listen to this man. I've enjoyed two of the Hex heads ('07 - '10) and they were great bikes. Loved them both. They were both '10's. One with the factory lowered chassis. Fourteen months ago moved to a '13 Cam head, ('11 +) and I like ...

Re: Anyone drop/crash their R12R whilst with BMW cases fitte

Caught an edge trap while traveling under 30 mph. I had the bags attached with clevis pins. The pins bent and the brackets broke so both bags came off. The bike slid across the road and down a ravine into a brook. I found one bag down stream and the other one I think on the bank. The bags maintained...

Re: Cee Baily screen

I ran a 22" Cee Baily on my first '10 R12. I had the front of the mount jacked up as high as it could go. I posted pictures here back in early 2010. (Search for "Ferguson Block") The setup was perfect. No wind noise, no buffeting just smooth sailing. On my next R12, also a '10, I used...

Re: Bob’s BMW sidestand foot

My Bob's sidestand foot is now riding on its third roadster. It was one of the few pieces that survived the crash of my beautiful blue roadster in 2010. It put in another 12,000 miles on my "temporary" black lowered chassis roadster and is now continuing service on my '13 blue roadster. Pa...

That's about the most beautiful bike I have ever seen. :D

I'll bet it rides pretty awesome, too.

Bob's BMW in Maryland has a great side stand foot expander for short money. Mine is currently installed on its third 1200.

Welcome aboard.

+1 on the Suburban Machinery kit. Once installed an observer would not spot them. They greatly add to the comfort of the bike.

I, too, lost an R1200 R in a road accident. I was unscathed but the bike was totaled.

The important thing is you are OK.

What color do you have in mind for the replacement?

Re: Getting old and decrepit question

Bill, I was in the Navy and Navy Reserve from age 22 until age 60. Mostly destroyers. I also sailed a small cruising sail boat around Narragansett Bay for about 20 years until I got back into two wheelers in 1994. As for the Nom, I used to go by BruceFerg on the Yankee Beemers website. It got moved ...

Re: Getting old and decrepit question

Sorry to hear about your condition, Bill. Getting old and decrepit does have a way of interfering with our riding. At the risk of being labeled as blasphemous, I recommend you consider one of the new Honda mid weights. They are available with automatic transmissions ( which can be shifted manually) ...
