Re: throttle sync DOHC and GS-911
Don, Harald, Thanks a lot for clarifying how to sync. Easier than I thought. As Don mentioned, no adjustments were needed for the valves according my BMW dealer till 110.000 km. For the first time I checked the valves by myself and all clearances are between 0,13 - 0,23 (IN) and 0,30 - 0,40 (OUT). D...

throttle sync DOHC and GS-911
Dear all, After 120.000 km with my R1200R (DOHC, 2012) and knowing to keep this bike for a long time, I finally bought a wifi GS-911. As many of you already know, it is a marvellous tool and easy to work with. After searching this forum and especially learning from the many contributions of Don I st...

I would go for a non ESA bike.....
Don,
I got the opinion over time that those who ride a lot of miles / kilometers a year (like me) don´t bother much about ESA.
In case one perceives (especially) a roadster as a toy, ESA often seems to be considered a nice, if expensive gadget.

Re: R1200 Water Cooled
BMW announced (read om the website of German magazine Das Motorrad) that BMW will continue to make the DOHC oilheads for another two years. No information whether this only relates to the R nine T (which I consider a pretty & useless machine) or any update of my beloved R1200R....

R1200R out of production
Maybe not known for everyone, but the R1200R cannot be ordered any longer from the facory. Apart from the Nine T this means the end of the very familiair air & oil cooled boxer set-up since year 1923 with the R32. As far as I know stock in Europe is fairly low. In Germany second hand R´s are pop...

Re: '11 R1200R - GPS Power Outlet Flaky
I get the idea that you are seeking a complex solution for a non existing problem? Don´t know much about electronics, but my Tomtom connected with the "repair plug" to the canbus (indeed, right side under the gas tank) works perfectly for over three years already. In any case, check the ba...

Re: What are your Wunderlich Trophy fairing impressions?
Just my opinion, but I don´t like the Wunderlich Trophy fairing. No harmony for me. The 90S fairing is nice, suits the bike, especially in relationship with the lower handlebar. A real timeless statement with two additional clocks within it, nicely positioned. Compared with that set-up, the handleba...

Re: Review: C3 Pro on an R1200R
Of late I have tried the C3 pro and the BMW 6 evo. Both helmets are remarkably well built, real top, but the BMW helmet provided the real fit for me. No regrets! Roughly speaking (very roughly I mean): If your head is long & egg like: try the BMW helmet first. If your head is apple like the Schu...

Re: Fuel Strip Failure - interesting thread..
As I already said, the fuel strip has been deleted in Europe. See http://www.bmw-motorrad.de/de/de/index.html For you who don´t understand German, see: - Service, - Betriebsanleitungen, - R1200R. There you can download the service manual for the latest R1200R in Europe, in any language. In the manua...

Re: Fuel Strip Failure - interesting thread..
Hi,
As far as I am aware BMW - and certainly in Europe - has stopped with mounting the fuel sensor for the R1200R from March unwards.
Even if you order the BC you will find that the fuel indicator has been deleted in the dash.
Could we say: problem solved........
Cheers,
Rob

Re: Factory Touring Windshield on Facelift Roadsters
I am quite satisfied with the Wudo screen. You can vary the tilting as to your wishes: good protection, no buffeting and a little more noise.

Re: Improving OEM heated grips possible?
Thanks a lot guys for all replies.
Coming back to the heated grips question and after reading the replies of Woland and moto-m: could it be that the performance of the grips of the camheads has become less, compared with the hexheads?
Thanks again for additional inputs!

Improving OEM heated grips possible?
Hi everyone, The working of the heated grips is disappointing. One dot: hardly noticeable and switching to three dots is a little bit better, say tepid. Before my R1200R camhead I had an F800ST and the heated grips were just fine: warm with one dot and very warm with three dots. I don´t believe that...

Re: spoiled by telelever??
[quote="Caroanbill"] The telelever front end was one of my main reasone to choose the R12R over the F800ST. Further: After 10 good years with my R1100RS I bought an F800ST. That was in 2010. Really a wonderful bike: fast, stable, light and reliable. However..... January 2012: One of the ma...

Re: New here and touring screen question
The Wuedo screen works very well for me.
It is a very stable screen, fits the RR line and one can adjust the slope of the screen very easily.

Re: how to mount gear above the bags?
Thanks for the information. Yes, it is all about two up & camping. A cargo net is a very good idea. As we intend to go for a couple of months :) we really need the possibility of packing light upon the bags. The luggage rack of the R1200R is already quite high (design has won from functionalitiy...
