Re: Should I buy another R1150R
My purchase of a VFR800 Honda led me to the sale of my R1150R and my R1200R. The only thing I miss is the wind protection I had on the 1150 with the full Aeroflow set-up. If I were to buy another BMW, which I don't feel is likely, I'd look at the new F800Gt or a nice used F800ST. Good luck with your...

All the more reason to learn to do it yourself. No, I am not surprised, but I do feel for ya.

Re: Excited! New Suspension Tuesday.
I'm glad this has all worked out. I am a bit miffed though as my only remaining bike (2000 VFR800) has a Showa unit, and this manufacturer has been dissed several times herein. I am feeling pretty deflated. Ah, look here, a quote for a replacement Hyperpro I received some time ago. Might be time to ...

Not gonna make it guys. I hope the weather turns out better than the predictions. Maybe I'll make a Fall rendezvous should there be one.

Re: system case mounting question
Set the bag in place by first positioning the locator at the bottom of the bag in the corresponding "foot" on the motorcycle. I'd do the right side first. If you lowered your exhaust and did not also reposition the left side foot for the full size left bag, you will need to do so.

Re: Dog Days of Summer
To my amazement I discovered that I would rather ride home in 105 degrees than drive home in my truck... and I love my truck. I hear ya, man. I have a 60 mile round trip commute on moderately travelled, two lane country roads. I'd rather sweat and/or get rained on than drive my car (and I drive a L...

Re: Measurement, Please
No problem. Be advised that with the Givi setup, the System Case carriers have to come off so (so obviously the System Cases can't be used at the same time). Let me know if you'd like a picture. No longer true with the Givi SR5100 . Although that thing seems to be damn near impossible to actually p...

6000k mile service wrt Final Drive fluid
I have misplaced my maintenance schedule. Is the final drive due for an oil change at 6k miles or was it done by dealer at 600 miles and is not due again til 12k miles? Please advise. Have already done the valve adjust and tb sync. Thanks

Oh yes, I also have a custom seat by Bill Mayer. Would not expect it makes much of a difference in the measurement.

Re: New to BMW - Need Advice
I hesitate to say this but it is IMO unlikely that the R1150R will approach the reliability of a well cared for V-strom. Let's just say the odds are against it. Some may disagree. I have not owned a V-strom, but I know several people who swear by them.

Re: Need some help.
So sorry to hear that. A few years ago I had an R1100S purchased from the original owner. He said the clutch splines failed on him at 12k miles! He had it rebuilt under warranty and claimed the dealer said they had never had it happen twice to the same bike. Well, I lost over a grand on that trading...

Re: FAILED ABS Unit
That brake system on your R1200C was the old servo assisted design. And yes, you could wind up with very little braking power. My understanding is that the R12R does not use a servo and is a bit more of a fail safe system in that losing the abs feature does not leave you with little or no braking......

Re: Rebulding FD in the Midwest
Laxity at 3 and 9 indicates Paralever pivot bearings. If your fd bearing is going south, you ought to have discolored gear oil evident when you drain the housing. Do some investigative work. My pivot bearings were bad at 14k. I cannot explain why this happened and can only assume they were not prope...

I'd certainly not miss it if I were within even a couple hundred miles. Too far for me tho this year. Enjoy.
