Re: Getting title from seller of my r1200r

Thanks everyone... the first couple responses scared me straight. I put in a call to the seller and he called back. Said he would get it to me in the next several days. Had some pretty reasonable sounding excuses and profuse apologies. Of course, I can't rely on that. I'll keep you posted. Got a ri...

Re: BMW Nav

Ideal for me would be cheap, waterproof and idiot proof. Nothing fancy. All on road. Feed it the address, and it takes me there. These things can really get confusing, what with all the different models and features. I've had several Garmin 2610's....sold my first one and stepped up to a Garmin Nuv...

Re: Quandary Regarding the Purchase of a 2010 R1200R

I'm looking for something that will eat up Interstate miles and would be comfortable enough to do a 1000 mile Iron Butt ride. Question is, which would you buy for the purpose intended? Any and all responses would be greatly appreciated. Just staying to your question above, as much as I find the ST ...

Re: Helmet options for the naked riders

I bought me a real purdy Shoei RF 1000 when I decided to " nakedize " my R. Very happy with my choice. For higher speed rides, I always wear a set of ear plugs.

Re: Less expensive alternative to a hugger

My dealer sent me an e-mail this week he got from the manufacturer. I don't want to post it since it has dealer costs in it. Attaches with 2 screws and 2 zip ties. Suggested retail is $ 139.00

Re: GPS setting for back roads

I've got 2 Garmins, a Nuvi 780 and a 2610, which while rather old in some features, I find better for the bike. For both units, I have an old version on Roads and Recreation loaded onto cards that I can slide into each unit. While it does not support voice navigation, and you can't route on it, it's...

Yep, 2 of them in St Louis last month when I was there. Interesting was that one had the Comfort seat ( Standard on the Touring ) and the other didn't. When they brought that to BMW's attention they said, Oh well.

Re: 2011 Classic Eyeballed

You mentioned the spoked wheels and the new Metzlers, but you made no mention of tubes. Are they in the tires, and maybe the new Metzlers are to accommodate them ? I've got a whopping .05 bet going with the GM @ Gateway BMW that there are tubes in the tires per the earlier postings about this bike a...

Re: Road Repairs

I've got an app on my iphone called Airheadshops that gives dealers and folks on the road that can help you if you're in a tight spot. It ties in with your phone's GPS to locate you to someone nearby. Click on the green pin and it gives you address and phone number. While it's called Airhead shops, ...

Re: Service Lift for R12R

If space is the issue, Kendon makes a pretty nice lift that when not in use stands up in the corner and takes very little space. They run about $ 500 but are pretty nicely made, are stable when your bike is up and you vcan perform most services while on it. I think there is a Chinese knockoff out th...

Yuasa

I too have always had good life with the BMW batteries. All were actually made by Yuasa and I would get 5 years without ever taking the batteries out of the bike. Top the water twice a year and kept on a Battery Tender year round. I actually had a Yuasa battery in my Honda tractor that lasted 11 yea...

Re: Coldest Temperature you've ridden you motorcycle in?

Some of the tricks I learned in our 6 years of stupid cold weather trips When you shower in the morning, give yourself a light coating of Baby Oil or similar product. That thin layer of oil will keep your skin moist. It will also trap heat your body generates. Swimmers of the English Channel used to...

Re: Coldest Temperature you've ridden you motorcycle in?

About 8 years ago, I started a ride that left the western 'burbs of Chicago the Friday after Thanksgiving and headed south to Tellico Plains and North Georgia. One year, we left Elburn Il and it was 9 degrees outside. One of the guys had his heated gear fail about 20 miles out, continued on for anot...

Re: cool bikes

We seem to be getting a little Harleyish here. There are quite a few Harley guys who make fun of and look down their noses at those who ride anything other than a Harley. Sure hope this group isn't headed that way. After all, is it not about what you ride but the fact that you ride ? I've loved the ...

Re: In deep...with Corbin seat

This thread is exactly why I got a Sargent seat made with the original BMW base. OTOH - The fact that Sargent (the seat I've always used in the past) uses the BMW seat pan is the reason I went for the Corbin seat. I generally keep my bikes a long time and I couldn't see investing money in, what I c...

Wow $15.00 for a bag of O rings! I think you could have gone to the auto parts store and saved yourself $10.00. Hopefully they work for you I hope so too. The idea of buying a bunch of different sizes, figuring the correct size, and then going back to buy them in bulk ("I'd like 48 of part no....
