Re: Adventure riding on a R12R?

Wow, he's still around? Sorry, I haven't been on this site in a couple years. Now I remember him posting pics of doing river crossings, and crazy stuff. I'm probably going to to stick to gravel, and hard packed dirt roads. Touartech doesn't list a belly pan for the R12R, can I fit one from a GS on? ...

Adventure riding on a R12R?

I've got a '07 R12R, my buddy just got a V-Strom and wants to do some adventure riding. Can I slap some tires on it and go for it? What type of tires?

Thanks!

Re: 2013 Montego R12R w/bits

Hmm. can't see the pics. There seems to be bunch of peeps on this forum who think that R12Rs are made out of paper and fine china, and should never looked at, touched or, god forbid, ridden. I was thinking of putting on a full exhaust, but I've decided to wait and see what the water-head version loo...

Re: 800 mile Interstate 10 SUMMER day across Texas - NOT FUN

Hot weather riding tips from a guy who lives in Tucson. 1: Camelback, or other hydration pack. Fill it with ice and water. You can also spray the water down your jacket. 2: Bandana around the neck. Soak it in water, plus it keeps the sun off your neck. 3: Full faced helmet with tinted visor, keeps s...

Re: Riding at 5000RPM

Dude, grow a pair and red line your bike off the line, through at least the 1st 3 gears, at least once per ride. Not doing this could damage your testosterone levels.

Re: Planing a longer trip. Need some advice.

If you do stick to your route, after you leave the North Rim, you can take a short turn off at Marble Canyon to Lee's Ferry, drop down the canyon, and cool your feet in the Colorado River.

Re: Planing a longer trip. Need some advice.

I see your doing the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, if you can get a reservation, ether for a cabin, or camp site, do it. I suppose you can just do a Griswold stop, (Look at that... ok, everyone back in the car) but it's worth it to spend an entire day there. I have no idea how much time you have, b...

Not only will you see 20 of them, but 10 of them will be broken down on the side of the road!

Charging my cell?

Hiyas,

Getting ready for the big, 10 day, SW USA MC camping trip. What is the easiest/cheapest way to re-charge the battery on my cell phone? I do have a 12v car adapter for the phone.

Thanks!

Re: Battery called it quits

The MotoBatt MBTX12U showed up, went in without any trouble, and the bike fired right up. That's about all I expect from a battery. I will let you know if/when it craps out on me.

The Man!

Riding my F-650ST (aka "Thumper") home from work, huge traffic jam at the highway on-ramp. I start splitting lanes, like any X-motorcycle messenger would, and blow by a cop. I pull over, kill the bike, and he pulls up next to me. He looks me up and down, through the open passenger window o...

Is it a full exhaust, or just a muffler/slip on?

Any plans for a power commander?

Cost?

Vender?

Nice looking bike!

Re: Track Day

I wouldn't spend the money on brake pads, unless they actually need replacing. Stock tires are fine. Take the little curb feeler pegs (aka "Hero Pegs") off of the bottom of the foot pegs. They drag way too early. If you have the $$$ to spend, a little protection on the bike wont hurt. Axle...

Battery called it quits

The original battery on my 2007 R1200R gave up on me this morning. Hit the start button, and everything went dark. A couple months back when I had the 6k service done, they told me it was bad, so I'm not surprised. I think 5 years for a battery in Tucson AZ is pretty good. On the plus side, it was a...

Re: Question for those that have wrecked an R1200R.

Crashing sucks.

Glad your "ok"

Ask the insurance company what the buy-back cost is on the bike if they total it. Since it's already wreaked, you should turn it into a cafe racer, or maybe even a track bike.

Re: Trusted the computer: RAN OUT OF GAS!!!!

Riding in very high winds, at speeds between 70-90mph, with BMW saddlebags, and the Z-Technik windscreen I ran out of gas 12 miles out of town, with 199.6 miles on the trip-meter, and 20 miles to go on the computer. Before this I had been going 220 miles on a tank with the sports screen, and no lugg...
