Re: Rust zone issue on lower end of hydraulic clutch hose
AZ BMW The top of the hydraulic line is a standard 10mm 90 degree banjo connector, it's the blasted bottom one that was the problem as it's a 6mm 90 degree banjo connector. I was looking over the link you shared and couldn't find anything about a 6mm banjo connector. Though maybe they do something c...

Re: Rust zone issue on lower end of hydraulic clutch hose
Another good reason to trim back the sheathing is the hydraulic clutch line is $184.00 USD. Very pricey because of the a-typical 6mm banjo connector on the slave cylinder end of things. Usual size is 10mm which would mean after market for $50... Seriously take some time and dig around the bottom end...

Rust zone issue on lower end of hydraulic clutch hose
In the midst of replacing clutch on an '04 R1150R, if you've gotten into the bottom of the motor you know the time involved in working through the layers of parts to get to said clutch. The protective sheathing/cover on the hydraulic clutch hose is the problem by holding water and not drying out dow...

Re: BMW Soft Sportbag 2
I've been using a MotoFizz small and medium bag for 2-3 years now and I'm very happy with them. Very durable and flexible in their use so to a myriad of ways to strap them onto your moto. Aerostich has both sizes and may be the only importer in the US. http://www.aerostich.com/motofizz-camping-seat-...

Re: Leaky seals/ final drive
Over filling the transmission with too much gear lube will also cause this sort of fluid drainage. I filled my transmission up too much a couple of times with a little bit of gear lube trying to push back out of the filler hole while I was putting the plug back into the transmission. A week later I ...

Can you snap and post a pic of the crash bars as well? Who makes them and were they intended for the R1150R originally?

R1150GS crash bars on R
Anyone had/have access to test fitting GS crash bars on the R bike? How did it go? Snooping through past threads for info on putting GS crash bars on the R, anyone seen anything? Don't have my R1150GSA anymore, add ons were easy on the GSA since it already looked like a Transformer. Every add on has...

Re: Clutch problem
Jeffers is correct, find that leak quickly. Actually I'd stop riding the moto till you find the leak. If leaking back at the clutch slave cylinder it could drip into/onto the clutch plate. Then you'll have compounded clutch problems with an oiled clutch plate and have to redo your clutch as well...

If they are small o-rings, a pencil could fit through the middle, those replace the o-rings on the QRs.

Re: Fuel filter relocate questions on R1150R
Interesting as Napa in Iowa City had the R10 hose section in a day for me. A small plus is you only use two clamps with the R10 fuel line replacement... I'll put you in touch with Jim at Ned's BMW Moto Guzzi in Riverside Iowa. That's who I order 95% of my parts from. They were the original BMW deale...

Re: Fuel filter relocate questions on R1150R
Please be sure to post the part number as there are lots of folks out there who do the in and outside of the tank fuel filter set up. This is some vital and handy info for the job. I'm just curious what the cost is going to be for the vent line?

Re: Fuel filter relocate questions on R1150R
Not seeing a listing under gates or goodyear for the submersible vent line, only info I can find is the rating of sae 30r10 3/16". I'd check with whoever your dealer is for those hoses and give 'em a call about picking some up. I'm guessing they'll have some in stock as the stuff seems to be co...

Re: Fuel filter relocate questions on R1150R
I pulled that off of the Max BMW parts fiche site http://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com/fiche/PartsFiche.aspx click on fuel supply and look at the window titled Fuel, Ventilation attaching part. From there I was looking at #1 with the two part numbers; 01 16 11 1 342 049 and 01 16 11 1 342 050. Maybe som...

Re: Fuel filter relocate questions on R1150R
Rick,
A foot of the R10 makes a beautiful loop of free flowing fuel line.
Not sure about the skinny vent lines as an aftermarket part. Looks like $11.07 for the part. You can use small worm gear clamps for the vent lines as the pressure is miniscule.

Re: Fuel filter relocate questions on R1150R
Rick, If the two vent hoses are fine just leave them alone... If the rubber gasket that seal the fuel pump plate hasn't stretched and fits correctly then it should be reusable. Generally just a good idea to replace while you're in the midst of the process as it's an inexpensive part. If the hoses co...

Re: Fuel filter relocate questions on R1150R
Rick, Does your R have ABS? If not that's the place to put the externalized fuel filter. If working the non ABS route be sure to pad the metal framing between the battery and alternator with old or cheap hose split down the middle long ways. Just zip tie it on. This will protect the fuel line from r...
