Re: Camshaft chain guide rail bolt: Help!

Thanks to both of you for responding to my plea. Removing the valve cover did allow me to insert a fairly long blade-type screwdriver to lift the guide enough to insert the bolt. All is well. =D>

Re: Quick ? Re: lowering foitpegs

I have both the higher seat and lowered pegs on mine. Yes, I scrape a peg feeler occasionally, but the reduced bend in my knees is worth it. I installed an extended shifter, which works better, but I didn't really have to. I drilled & tapped a hole in the end of the brake pedal and used a 6mm bo...

Camshaft chain guide rail bolt: Help!

I pulled a major stupid and mistakenly removed this bolt from the left cylinder. Is there any way to screw it back in with having to pull the head? ](*,)

Re: Have you "bonded" with your ride?

Definitely: yes. To me bonding is a feeling of "oneness" with the bike and that it seems to respond without conscious effort on your part. :smt023

Re: Fairing Turbulence and Helmets

By the way, I see you have the sport shield on your bike. I have one too, and I was very unhappy with the turbulence caused by the wind hitting right at the chin bar of the helmet. My solution was to lower the height of the screen with a belt sander until the airflow hit below my chin, which solved ...

Re: Fairing Turbulence and Helmets

I have the same head shape, and I find the Nolan N102 to be the most comfortable helmet I've ever worn. I also find it to be very quiet for a modular helmet. I wear a size 7 1/4 hat, and the medium fits perfectly. :D

I've thought about adding pegs on mine, but I find that resting my feet on top of the guards works pretty well.

Re: Finger Trouble- Lever Adjustment

I also suffer from a bit of rheumatoid arthritis in my right hand. I find if I ride with my fingers wrapped around the throttle, I sometimes can't apply the front brake quickly due to some painful stiffness in my fingers. If I keep two fingers covering the lever, however, I have no problem. I have s...

Re: Final Drive Unsprung Weight

The BMW F800ST has a belt dive. CycleRob went from his R1150R to the F880ST and for the most pat it's a better package on all fronts, or so it appears. Weight, acceleration, vibration, consumption, let long all the nuances of the R, time will tell. That's true, but the new for this year F800R has a...

Re: Final Drive Unsprung Weight

My wife's '06 Suzuki Boulevard S40 (Savage) has a belt drive, and I definitely like it. So long as you keep it clean, tensioned and aligned, a belt is great. They squeal if the alignment is off, but that's pretty minor. I was interested when I saw a write-up in this month's Cycle World about BMW's n...

Re: Handlebar Set-Back Installation Troubles - Advice Sought

If you cut the tie wraps that secure the cables to the handlebars, you should have no trouble. I cut them to relieve strain on the wires, because I actually had a break due to the overly tight wraps. Because I did that, I had no problems installing similar bar setbacks.

Re: Buzzing clock

Yes, I also recall a thread about this. As a result of one of the suggestions, I tried installed a plain old 5/8" garden hose washer under the retaining "bolt." Voila, end of problem. Try it: it's cheap and easy.

Re: Blinker switch housing

My left blinker is not working and i want to get in there and see if i can clean contacts or what ever to get it working. So how the heck do i get the housing off? Three screws hold it on: one on the bottom, one on the rear facing you, and one small one in the rear view mirror tunnel. You'll see it...

Re: gear lever adjustment

There are two adjustments for the lever position. If you follow the lever linkage, you'll see where you can reposition the upper lever on the splined shaft. The other way is to remove one end of the link and adjust its length by screwing the socket ends in or out. If you look closely at the socket e...
