Re: Hungry Mother ride 2015 August 21-23

I have been trying to do this group ride for 4 years now, but multiple events have kept me from going. I will try it one more time this year, leaving from the Asheville area. I know it's usually a wet weekend, but I don't care!! Once it gets closer to the date I will confirm my tent space. Looking f...

Re: My seat is crushing my-well you know...

I struggled with my stock seat for years, eventually decided to install a "Corbin seat". It did improve significantly, but still not the best. I find that I can ride on curvy roads for hours on end without much pain, but as soon as I get on the highway the pain starts almost immediately. M...

Re: Rockster Beautification Project & a tip for grips

[ I had some extra bicycle handlebar tape in the garage and found that it works great! ] I used tennis racket grip on mine, it doesn't have much cushioning (which I didn't want), therefore didn't increase the overall diameter by much. the heating elements still work perfectly well. All for $8.95 !! ...

Re: No barbacks or risers

i put a set of risers and made a big difference, and practically unnoticeable aesthetically. the only issue was the brake line was just barely long enough.
putting a GS bar would kill the look of the bike, I wouldn't do that.

Re: Hungry Mother 2013 is August 09-11

[..... while the 'less evolved' sit around the campfire talking about how the earth is flat and then retire to sleep on the cold, hard ground. .....] cold, hard ground??? in August?? from your lips to gods ear. I can't think of anything better to do after a day of riding than to sit a round a campfi...

Re: Cherohala Skyway, TN. A question..

that is a GREAT loop, and you can't go wrong in either direction. I've done it in both ways and it's equally good. The Dragon definitely has more bikers going north bound, but I think is because they take of from Deals Gap. There is not much of a "meeting place" on the north end of The Dra...

Re: Hungry Mother 2013 is August 09-11

Hey guys, I'm new here. Can somebody fill me in about this ride?
where is it exactly?
I see people from GA, NC, VA, PA, etc..
I will be in the Asheville area in August, and would love to meet up with some other R12R owners.
thanks

Re: Attaching Other Bags to BMW Side & Top Cases

I don't like to put more bags over the TOP BAG, it increases the weight up high. so I put 2 waterproof dive bags over the side cases. this gives me plenty of room for the wife and myself to go camping for 2 weeks. (not including the food and beer of course). I usually put the frequently needed stuff...

Re: leather vs textile jacket

OK, well thanks a lot to everybody for their comments and opinions. For what I am reading, I think it just comes down to personal preference. Both materials seem to be as effective in the protection area, and maybe textile a little better with regards to weather (more versatile). the "cool"...

leather vs textile jacket

I am starting a new search for a good jacket/pants to ride in moderate weather. Not too cold, but down to high 30's low 40's. my question is, what do people think between leather vs textile gear? Leather seems to be more expensive, but is it better? BMW makes great gear, but pricy. I would like some...

Re: In deep...with Corbin seat

I got a corbin seat, and it came with the "attachment" support on the passenger end for a back rest. I have a top bag, so don't need the back rest, and this support was creating a pressure point on my passenger's butt. It took several phone calls and a lot of arguing with Corbin, they didn...

Re: considering purchasing R1200R

I've had my R12R for almost 2 years now, and I couldn't be happier. I love the fact that you don't see so many of us out there, makes us unique. I do all the service myself, and changing the final drive oil is very straight forward. You can buy on ebay the full service manuals CD for less than $10 E...
