Re: Earplugs Anyone?
The M & M's did not melt in my hear. I think though, you may have come up with a new marketing twist on their product. To my knowlege they do not cause infections. Still, IMHO, M&M's are earplugs of last resort. I like the white wax plugs they sell in every motorcycle store, although I have ...

Re: Time to say goodbye, for now at least
So, I've been looking hard at carbon fiber rims for my R because of all the benefits to a motorcycles performance handling, torque and top speed, as well as the looks, and various postings on this site.
For about $3500 bones you could significantly (allegedly) upgrade the R versus selling it.

I think it neeeds four strips of ductape running parallel to the handlebars on the middle of the seat for good measure.
Awesome!

Yeah, what Don said. Your R1150R is a beautiful motorcycle. The R1200R, is the next level better in every way.

Re: Time to say goodbye, for now at least
Rocket, Here in Southern California, torque is king which the R has plenty of! I was suprised to hear that 0-stoplight, the ktm had the bmw beat. No ABS no problem? So Cal has some of the most rude and inattentive drivers I have ever come across in the U.S. One of my favorite things to do during rid...

Re: Time to say goodbye, for now at least
I am a couple inches over 6' so the KTM height was fine for me. I thought the KTM Supermoto had no ABS. Is that still true? The Adventure version of the 990 was a little too 'front tire tall' for me since I would not use a street bike for the dirt anyway. I do get the appeal of the KTM though. Sitti...

Re: If you had to get rid of your R1200R
I have no experience of either of these bikes except what I have read. The Horex(sp?) or how about the 6 cyl BMWK1600GTor GTL. None of these bikes are in production or available in the USA yet... I am looking forward to their arrival to the motorcycle market. The idea of getting rid of the R1200R ev...

Sounds like a great location for a ride and ralley. I am unable to attend. The Pacific Northwest is probably stunning right now. Please send Pics...no 'carnations' please.

Re: Earplugs Anyone?
I agree with you that ear plugs are the best way to ride. It always has a very 'calming of the mind' kind of effect on me. After awhile you don't even want to ride without them. One time I was on a ride and lost my earplugs. I bought a pack of plain M&Ms and used one in each ear for the rest of ...

Re: To All
I am sorry to hear of your loss. I've lost a few friends to car crashes, surfing and motorcycling. One has been dead for over 25 years. I still miss him. I never stopped riding or surfing or any other 'fun' for very long because fun and adrenaline acts of lunacy are what bonds me with my friends. Th...

Re: R1200R Dual Headlight
Regarding Deer, here in San Diego we have to go fairly far inland to have the threat of them jumping out in the road night or day. I have been in Idaho and Montana driving at night on curvy roads and driving is an invitation to deer disaster for sure. Don, I'm pretty sure your paranoia has served yo...

Re: R1200R Dual Headlight
I'm all in on dual headlights that meet Don's specs. I also like the Triumph's dual headlight 'look'. I like riding at night because there is less glare, bikinis. dogs, cats, pedestrians, bicycles, surfers with boards walking around, and non-road surface distractions and hazards. When I go out after ...

Re: thinking of getting a R1200R
I owned an 03 F650 Dakar prior to getting my 09 R1200R. The 650 is a great bike. I recommend it for every kind of riding except freeway riding. When you switch from the 650 to the R1200R you will giggle unconrollably for..., daily. The R is actually easier to thread through urbanville than the 650 a...

Re: Aftermarket or retro gauge replacement for R1200R
Yes, thanks for the responses. In reality, the instrument cluster is a small potatoes issue. I am probably just thinking too hard about putting wings on a frog. Usually when I go down farkle road, I go to the garage, get on the bike and blast down the coast highway for about an hour. That usually sn...

Re: Aftermarket or retro gauge replacement for R1200R
Thanks! The parts guy at the BMW dealer looked at me like I was crazy...which of course, I am. But I think this retro gauge thing could be good on this bike.

Aftermarket or retro gauge replacement for R1200R
I'm thinking I might want to swap my 09 R's instrument panel for a more retro guage set up. I don't much care for the trip computer and digital info. I just want a low fuel light, speedo, tach, analog clock and a neutral light. I'm not interested in reading very much when I ride the bike. I think, a...

Re: If you had to get rid of your R1200R
So, is the K1300R available in USA? Did the front wheel on your K come up a bit too easily and too often? When I got my R there was no sit up straight K1200 or K1300 at the dealership. Just the bend forward variety. Is ASC really necessary? I fully agree that ABS is mandatory...even on a Vespa.
