Re: My New RT!
Hi John, I recently did the same. sold my 03 R and bought an 03 RT(silver). Love it to bits but also wasnt comfortable on tip toes, I'm only 5'6", so bought a BMW low seat off ebay. Makes all the difference when stationary being able to get one foot at least flat on the ground. Looking forward ...

Re: Handlebars seem off center
Seems to me that the incident has caused some damage. If it was me I would take it to a dealer and then claim against the suv driver's insurance to recoup costs. That would give me peace of mind.

Interested in this question as I also have seen a very nice 1100rt. Currently have an 03 1150r which I like but want an rt and this one is within my budget.

Re: Engine Missing Slightly, Coocase Top Box & WIndscreens
Might be a problem finding a black chopping board. I could only find white so painted it black. Doesnt matter so much as it isnt noticable unless I point it out to someone. Also added benefit of getting a set of knives free with the board lol!

Re: Engine Missing Slightly, Coocase Top Box & WIndscreens
I think thats the same idea as riceburner only he used a plastic chopping board. I copied his method and it works for me. I'm over here in N.Ireland, just outside Belfast. I have an 03 r1150r.

Re: R1150R top box / rack
Don't know the box - but if it's a relatively small one, save yourself some money and buy a plastic bread-board. :) then cut & fit the board to slot tightly into the location the silver rack is in, then drill 4 holes in the box base to locate into the same 4 holes that the rack uprights use to ...

Re: First R1150R
Hi Steve, congratulations on getting your first BMW. I too have the 03 r1150r. Bought it new, then sold it a year later  and had the chance last year to buy it back! =D> Only 9000mls on mine and have the touring panniers too. Fitted a topbox recently also, so ready for that tour to France some...

Topbox wiring.
I fitted a new Givi topbox with integral tail/stoplight. There are two wires from the topbox and three on the tail light of the bike. So what connects to what? In order to get it working i had to disconnect the parking light. When this was connected the brakelight on the box wouldn't work. So what a...

Re: Another top-box solution
Well i guess I answered my own question. I was tinkering about in the garage and just wasnt 100% sure the plywood would be good enough. Nipped down to the local shopping centre and bought a chopping board and made a new plate out of this. Far better job and I'm feeling happier now! :D Wife got 3 new...

Re: Another top-box solution
I tried this today but instead of using a chopping board I used some plywood. It all seems very sturdy and secure. Now the question is, will this be strong enough to hold or am I going to lose my box on the highway?

Re: Weak battery?
Got the battery tested and yes its on its way out. Priced the Odyssey one and hope to get it after Christmas. What a bugger to get the battery out but thanks to a search on here followed the procedure for removing the tank. =D> And took the opportunity to change the air filter while I was at it. Paul

Weak battery?
I have had my bike plugged into a trickle charger for the last 6 weeks. Went on a charity run today and after stopping for 10 minutes the bike wouldn't start and the battery went dead after two attempts at starting. Managed to get going after a good samaritan lent me his battery booster pack and I m...

Re: r1150r..is it the right bike for me?
Happy days, you wont regret it. I just purchased my 03 r1150r back again after having sold it in 2004. I'm 44 and not into sports bikes at all. I like my comfort too much. I've got the low seat on mine and find it comfortable. Enjoy!
