Re: My Clutch Slave Misadventure has become a Spline Disaste
The grease holes are a good idea to make maintenance (lubing) an easier task. But, I also think much of the benefit of a spline lube job is to get in there and to CLEAN the old grease out (and dirt and abrasives in the old grease). I just don't think more frequent lubing is going to make anything la...

This thread that you dug up has been inactive for about 3 and a half years (middle of 2008). I haven't seen Gordium7 post on the board for a long time either. I wouldn't hold your breath for a response from him.

Re: My Clutch Slave Misadventure has become a Spline Disaste
When the dealer said that they haven't done the job lately and might not have the tools? He was lying... or trying to be funny... It's been a far too common issue on all the R1150xx models. As the miles keep adding up, I bet my life that the dealers are doing this job with ever increasing frequency....

Re: Mike Camellitti (MikeCam) is MISSING in WV Forest
I didn't know Mike all that well, like Vann and others did, but "getting lost" just doesn't ring true. Steve, so you are suggesting that Mike pulled a season-ending Jack Bauer disappearance trick? (my wife has been getting the series 24 on netflix... :? ) The idea of that gave me my first ...

I saw the post in the buy/sell section, and was hoping that you would be forced to keep it... I know you didn't sell it without good reason, but it's still kinda sad to see a real long-timer have to move on.
Welcome Radek.

Re: R1150R Clutch Slave Adventure
It is hard to grip and get a good pull on it. I remember struggling to get it out too... it takes a Really strong pull. But, like Rob said vice-grips and a strong wiggling/pulling will get it out. I am pretty sure I used the small-sized-needle-nosed type of vice-grips, as that was only thing that co...

Re: Brake warning lights-Stella! say it ain't so.
There are 4 reservoirs in the system. Two of them are IN the ABS unit, under the gas tank. When one of those (ABS unit reservoirs) gets low, it will trigger a SPECIFIC warning light pattern. The two warning lights will flash ALTERNATELY. Typically, this will happen on turning the bike on, not when a...

Re: No front brakes
I wouldn't scrap the bike, at least not just for this. Here's a link for removing the ABS, sweatmark did it on a Rockster. It is even easier on a roadster, because the speedo is not electronic, so you don't need to worry about that at all. For you its basically a couple (simple) changes to the fluid...

Re: gun question
For what you are wanting it for, I think that is a good choice, too. I am certainly no black bear expert, but I've encountered a couple in my life (not hunting them). They are usually such a non-aggressive (although big and strong) animal. They spend their lives scrounging for food, not overpowering...

Re: Time to check your antifreeze
Wayne, It's great to hear that you and Donna are both doing better. Thanks for the update. About the antifreeze, I have adapted a new plan. I started to fill my tires with it, roughly half the capacity (the other half is just air, I can't afford the fancy stuff). The anitfreeze doubles as a "dy...

Re: Throttle body sync--feeling guilty, should I?
You should absolutely not feel guilty. I also believe that non-adjustment is ideal. Not out of laziness, but because that means the bike was tuned accurately the last time. Once those cables are done stretching (early in the bike's lifetime), adjustments should be getting smaller and smaller... appr...

Re: I cut off a motorcycle, and I'm sorry...
I had a close one not too long ago. The road has 3 lanes. The center one is for turning left (both directions). She was in the right lane, with her right turn signal flashing, and brakes applied. I was behind her and moving to the center lane (making a left turn, at the same street she is turning ri...

Re: Gas Mileage With and Without Fairing
The better gas mileage in the rockies is probably due to elevation. There is less air up there, so consequently there will be less gas used. Your bike also was also producing less power though. The same thing happens in cooler vs. warmer air temps. There will also be a big difference in riding 55 mp...

Re: A Little Oil Seepage in This Location...What to Do
That is the magnetic plug on the transmission. It is not used to change the transmission oil, but should be pulled and checked every 24,000 miles (I think).
The bummer is that you need to remove the cat. converter to pull it out. Anyhoo... not a big deal... and should be easy to remedy.

I don't recall seeing that anybody wrote one up here on the board. This is the best tutorial I have run across for the job. Obviously, the person who made this was using the replacement bushings instead of the OEM bearings.

Re: Sometimes you don't know where to begin
One of my big front teeth withstood many such attempts (most very painful), very much to my family's enjoyment. They were getting pretty creative. They would have a new idea every week. That thing was loose but would not come out, for over a year. Finally, they had to have a professional get that ba...
