Re: Rockster Handlebar - ugh !
What did you use for the front brakeline? I'd like a little more length in mine.

Re: Clutch Slave Cylinder Removal
I got the old one out and the new one in. None of it was hard, just a matter of figuring out the order of things as I hadn't been into this in an R1150 before. The old one was somewhat grimy but not terrible. The old bearing was dry but still shiny, though there was absolutely no grease left. It had...

Re: Mounting System Case topcase on Rockster
I wound up finding an OEM rear luggage rack. As the stock, curved plate is no good for mounting the kind of case I wanted, I made a new plate out of a plastic cutting board. The mount for the R1150RT system case bolted right to it. Works like a charm.

Re: Rockster Handlebar - ugh !
This is probably a dead thread but I recently picked up a Rockster and agree completely about the terrible handlebar. I once owned an R1150R and found the ergos much better, and the only difference is the handlebar. After trolling eBay for a month I decided I wasn't going to find an R1150R handlebar...

Re: Brake Pad Replacement with ABS
If your pads are wearing quickly it is likely you need to clean up the pistons in your calipers. They tend to accumulate gunk over time and no longer slide in and out like they are designed to do. You might also check to make sure that your retaining pin is clean and lightly greased. But honestly, i...

Getting The Subframe Up!
I also posted this in the R1150R forum as it pertains to both. So, I've dived into the clutch slave cylinder replacement on my 80th Anniversary '04 Rockster. I have a new one on the way from Beemer Boneyard. Supposedly an upgraded version that the guy on the BMW service videos says has a better reco...

Getting The Subframe Up!
So, I've dived into the clutch slave cylinder replacement on my '04 Rockster. I have a new one on the way from Beemer Boneyard. Supposedly an upgraded version that the guy on the BMW service videos says has a better record of not failing. This forum is a little more active than the Rockster forum an...

Clutch Slave Cylinder Removal
I'm replacing the clutch slave cylinder in my '04 Rockster. Got the rear shock removed last night before I ran out of time. Now I'm looking at a bar between the footpegs that looks like it comes out. It'll have to come out before I can get to the slave cylinder. It also suggested removing the electr...

Re: Help! Sudden Transmission Rattle
Certainly makes sense. I felt it must be in the slave cylinder. I guess that's what you're referring to. I supposed the standard procedure is to order a new one. I was watching one of those BMW service videos with the guy who swears a lot. Says the BeemerBoneyard slave cylinder is the way to go. And...

Help! Sudden Transmission Rattle
Well, I replaced my handlebar the other day with something a bit less aggressive. It's a tedious job with the heated grips but seemed to go without a hitch. I fired the bike back up and it seemed to run fine in neutral. However, when I pulled the clutch lever in I got a bad rattle from the transmiss...

Re: Mounting System Case topcase on Rockster
I'd certainly like to talk to you about your top case mounts. that's nice fabrication work and pretty much how I do it, too. I already have the RT mounting plate so am ready to go. Are those aluminum or steel? If this wasn't going to work, as you said it won't, I'm prepared to fabricate. I've done a...

Re: Mounting System topcase on an R1150R
I already have a full set of System Cases and they can be keyed to the bike which I like very, very much. If that System Top Case will fit the OEM luggage plate, I'll order one from MaxBMW and be good to go! (Unless I can find one cheaper on fleabay or ADVrider.) I have used the plastic cutting boar...

Mounting System Case topcase on Rockster
Similar post in R1150R: I'm preparing for a big move and am consolidating four bikes into two. (See sig for current machines.) The TR650 and the TE250 are turning into a medium dual sport, possibly a Husky 501. We'll see. The RT and GS are turning into an '04 Rockster with but 14K on the odo. Long s...

Mounting System topcase on an R1150R
Been a while since I posted here. Sold my R a few years ago and got an RT. I've enjoyed it but have learned a lot and am going back to no windscreens. However, I kind of hate to lose the storage in the topcase. So, I was wondering if there is an OEM option to mount a System topcase on an R1150R? I'm...

Throttle Body Synch
I'm doing a throttle body synch on my '02 R1150. The Clymer manual says that only a BMW dealership can do it because they use some kind of MoBiTech system or something like that. There isn't even a procedure for doing it in the Clymer manual except for the R1100. Now I know some of your guys have do...

Re: My New RT!
Hi John, I recently did the same. sold my 03 R and bought an 03 RT(silver). Love it to bits but also wasnt comfortable on tip toes, I'm only 5'6", so bought a BMW low seat off ebay. Makes all the difference when stationary being able to get one foot at least flat on the ground. Looking forward...

Re: My New RT!
I thought about that, but in the end I decided I was probably better off getting an RT, than trying to turn my R into an RT. And I've tried about six different windshields already and it's getting expensive...

My New RT!
Most of you know I've been complaining about the noise levels on my R1150R. I love the bike, but the aerodynamic noise has been causing me some problems. So, I've been experimenting with various fairings. I even bought a Parabellum Scout. But the quietest I could get the bike was with my modified Pa...

Re: What is is with these dealers???
. . . I made a 16 mile (25.7 km) RT errand to the . . . Xdot, RT is shorthand for RoundTrip. I only have my `09 F800ST. My house in Gainesville GA is 51 miles from Atlanta BMW in Marietta and 40 something miles to Blue Moon in Norcross GA. Salesman said his service dept in BMW Atlanta is 3rd best i...
