Re: Tankbags?

I have two tankbags for my R12R. I have an RKA that sounds just like your old one. I use it only when I'm traveling or I have a specific need for a large bag. I agree that it's probably tending to the "too big" end of the spectrum, but all those pockets and outside compartments are great w...

Re: New PIAA LED lights - and mounting

Don - I have an 07 12R and have been very unhappy with the Denali D2 lights I have been running. They don't do much for my illumination although I am probably more visible to oncoming traffic. I assume you would recommend the Hella FF50's again and if yes, do you know if they draw more power than t...

Re: I just retired...

Scary stuff, Mike. Glad to hear that your are mostly OK. The day will come for all of us to hang up the helmet for the last time. Hopefully we can all do it as gracefully as you. Best of luck, and since you're still a motorcyclist I hope you hang around. Chuck DeSantis (Not far behind you in the age...

Re: New Roadster

First off, let me say that I love my R1200R. It is everything I hoped it would be, and then some. This is my first experience with telelever, and overall I like it. It does feel a bit strange, though, especially since I'm still riding other bikes that have traditional telescopic forks. The feel is d...

Re: Any one notified of Fuel Pump Flange Recall yet?

Dropped my bike off this afternoon. The dealer is going to replace the fuel strip (again) while he's got it. Fingers crossed.

Also, ordered the gas filler gasket from the S1000RR. Any update on the efficacy of this mod?

Thanks!

This one is the Cee Bailey's $25 job.
It has about 7k miles on it, including through many construction zones. Cleaned it up yesterday.

For me, unequivocal rec.
Thanks, Doc. Think I'll be ordering one.

Can anyone post a pic of the CB headlight protector mounted on an R12R?

Thanks!

Re: If you had to choose between Seat or Shock to upgrade

I'd probably go for the set upgrade as well. With one year of experience with my '11 model, I have not found the suspension limiting either my riding style or my comfort. The seat, on the other hand, could use some help. I have had a few long days in that saddle and it has come up short IMO. My conc...

Re: Smooth idle - YES!

Don, Would love to see the pix. Are you going to post the whole procedure somewhere? If not, I'll archive it somewhere. Nowhere near your mileage yet, but seems like it's almost inevitably going to need the procedure. Chuck Chuck, I may make a DIY over on the MOA forum, hasn't been a good Hexhead o...

Re: Smooth idle - YES!

If anyone is interested I'll try to take a few photos of the spare steppers, showing where to lube them before I put them back up on the shelf. Lemme know. PS - update - a friend who not too long ago bought a used '07 R12R with about no miles on it also experienced the rough idle and occasional sta...

Re: fuseblock trigger wire woes

Has anyone tried to tap into the tail light for the relay trigger? Chuck, I used both the rear taillight and the brake light when I installed my Skene Design Photon Blaster for conpspicuity. It works great and dovetails nicely with the features of the device I was installing. My dealer said to stay...

Re: fuseblock trigger wire woes

Has anyone tried to tap into the tail light for the relay trigger?

I've read of using the parking light, accessory socket lead, and the lead in the connector -- but never the tail light.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

Re: aftermarket alternatives

K&N are no worse than the original as they are being "oiled" and thus keep back whatever might want to enter through the intake. In fact dyno checks show that there is no gain over the OEM paper filter thus there is no additional airflow passing by the filter ... However the K&N c...

Re: 18.5 F Degrees Ride in to Work Today

Coldest ever ride for me was 10°F on a Sunday morning, leaving the house for a MC breakfast; about 25 miles or so. A rider friend and I were egging on each other :) Seemed downright balmy when I rode home in temps in the 20s afterward. 40°F is about the low limit for me. I have the gear and CAN ride...

Great pix. Good story. I'll bet you do more motorcycle camping :)

May I ask what top case you have mounted? It looks to be sitting much lower and maybe more forward that the OEM boxes I've seen -- and those are good things as far as I'm concerned.

The TPS is a component I know little about. I've ordered a service manual but don't have it yet. Is this sensor adjustable or does it just send out different voltages as the throttle cable moves? Is it possible the TPS could go out of adjustment? or if not adjustable become defective? Interesting p...

I'm wondering how people determine the length of their inseam. Is it the length identified on your favorite jeans/slacks? Is it the measurement from your crotch to your ankle? Crotch to ground? I consider my inseam to be 28/29" based on the identified length of my jeans and pants. I *think* tha...

see the machine art moto web sight for a reduced price. Robert So I thought this would be a good farkle for my newish R12R, especially since the dry spell in the Midwest isn't going to last forever. Taking Robert's hint I surfed over to the MAM website and there it was at the reduced price. I order...

It lasted. This was a non-ABS bike, by the way.

I believe the issue with the K75 was the complexity of the plumbing in the front brake system. There were 5 banjo joints in the front system alone (one of them a double).
