So I got a reply back from Sportbike Track Gear on the original vs. alt:
"there is no performance gain with the ALT it over the standard routing. All it does is eliminate the junction box on the rear fender. All of there its do come with detailed instructions as well."

Re: Spiegler Brake Lines – alt or original? (non-ABS)
Recently, I replaced a rear brake line with a Galfer steel braided line on my 02. I got them from Tim at Pashnit web site. He's a good guy. They were (for the rear anyway) 40% less than Speigler, they are made is USA and everything feels very good quality. Also and very importantly, everything fit ...

Spiegler Brake Lines – alt or original? (non-ABS)
My original front brake lines finally bit the dust, of course I'm way overdue to replace them at almost 70K miles. (Me=idiot: huh, you have to replace those? Learning is fun!) How it happened: On the trip home from Sturgis yesterday a small puncture blew in the right brake line. Luckily I was close ...

Lee – how fast are you going that they can't hear you coming?! I know the Harley's ain't that fast ;) Seriously though, it's the traffic - street riding, 20 miles an hour – when I hate myself for not upgrading to a loud pipe yet. Used to ride my buddy's Buell around town and I tell you what: EVERYON...

Re: A defensive mentality while riding
I installed a headlight modulation kit and a flashing rear light bar on my R1150R. I was recently stopped by a town policeman who questioned the legality of the headlight modulator, saying it was annoying to have coming at him. I showed him the documentation showing that the kit was legal, then I s...

So clever! I may have to use this idea, haven't had a good spot for tools since I stuck the power commander under the rear seat.

Toaster - you need to get these vent lines correct... Thanks for the pro tip! Checked my lines and it looks like I connected them up right (despite my best effortsto screw it up). I couldn't get monofilament all the way through the line so I shot some wd40 through it (after disconnecting both to ma...

Re: Wish me good luck
Thread hijack! Just make sure you label and reconnect the vacuum and drain hoses properly underneath the tank. Also rub a little silicone grease on the fuel line quick disconnect o-rings. It makes them go back together much easier and lessens the risk of nicking them when reconnecting. Question for ...

Re: Seattle to Austin and back: my ROT rally ride
The fairing is a universal-mount Emgo I picked up and chopped so it wouldn't bump the oil coolers. I like it for ducking cafe-style – beyond that it doesn't offer a ton of wind protection. My jacket's a textile, but I had major leather envy – both the guys had leather and claimed they were kept cool...

Seattle to Austin and back: my ROT rally ride
Took the last two weeks and rode my bullet-proof r1150r from Seattle to Austin to visit Texan friends, attend the Republic of Texas rally, and generally exploring areas of the West I'd never seen before. 5000 miles, 10 states: WA, OR, ID, NV, UT, CO, NM, TX, AR, CA Here's the route: https://www.goog...

Re: Balanced on Center Stand?!
That sounds normal. Mine tends to rest on the rear wheel but a light weight touch on the front wheel will tip it onto the front.
Pretty handy when you need to take a wheel off.

ROT Rally
On June 8 I'm leaving Seattle on the R (with a couple of Buells along for the ride) and heading to Texas. We're hitting the Republic of Texas rally, really just as an excuse for the ride. Got a few friends in San Antonio to catch up with as well. Trip down will include stops at SLC, Durango, Roswell...

High temp powder coating. The inner few inches were coated as well, FWIW the guy that did mine said that people who claim to do the full inside of the pipe are really only coating as far as you can see in, that being as far as they can really reach.

Dyno numbers! Max Power 80.95, Max Torgue 73.98 (If I can get to a scanner tomorrow at work I'll post the graphs.) The bike feels amazing: smooth, no weird surging, even power through the range but pumps it out a little around 5K. Seemed like it was a pretty easy job for the guy – he was working on ...

Re: Exhaust upgrade nearly complete; tips for the PCIII?
Update: I scheduled an appointment with a local dyno guy, and he suggested sticking with a stock Power Commander map for the few days until I could bring the bike to him (heading in tomorrow). The bike was NOT happy with the stock map – I definitely wouldn't have ridden it like that. I connected up ...

Are you looking for the full sized or city cases? I have a pair of city cases, the left is in great shape. I switched to a bigger pair after transporting brake fluid in the right hand case and melting through the plastic. (Learning is fun). I'd be happy to strike a deal for the left one. *I can't ge...

Exhaust upgrade nearly complete; tips for the PCIII?
I sold my first bike (1984 V30 Magna) and bought an exhaust upgrade for my 2002 r1150r: Remus y-pipe & Power Commander III usb Also just for good looks, powder coated the front pipes + y-pipe in velvet black. (I figure I'll go after the pricey Remus Revolution slip-on next year, or after I can s...

Re: Quick Disconnect Change Info Needed
I just replaced mine today! The old ones were a bitch to remove – I took out the bike-side QDs first, which came out after a lot of wiggling. Then I used those pieces to plug into the tank-side QDs to get better leverage (and I imagine there is some suction-related advantage in that too). I left the...
