Re: Violation of the Eilenberger Rule: Epilog
Congrats on your new RT. I went from an RT to an R a couple of years ago and have yet to regret the move. The RT is everything you need and more for distance touring. The biggest downfall for me was that the wonderful fairing that protects so well, would cook you in hot summertime heat. Does it get ...

Ditto, brake line "could" be a little longer, but the stock unit will still reach with these risers.

Re: If Ever I Was Tempted to Ride Squid...
In West Springfield, MA, Returning to Maine early from Bloomsburg, I was making a left at a light, one car ahead and one behind me, when a woman ran the red light and hit me broadside. Bike, bags and I went in four different directions. Temp 103 Degrees. ATGATT saved my butt! Bruised but walking. B...

Looks like a great opportunity to me also,I paid 9k for my '08 R last fall...it had 2775 miles on the clock, but didn't have some of the farkles that this one offers.Mine is one of the 'fast ones" also

Re: approximate price to change tank color
I would go and visit a professional body shop/paint shop...They can match any color perfectly...you want the tank and all other parts painted at same time with the same paint...the plastic bits will need a different catalist. If you have the capability to remove and drain the tank and the rest of the...

Re: Worried about sudden battery death
Get a Battery Tender and keep it plugged in at all times when the bike is idle, your battery will thank you with many years of trouble free performance. I hope you're right but.... My R is less than 11 months old. I ride it year 'round and leave it on the Battery Tender probably 90% of the time. Twi...

Re: What seat are you using on your R1200R
Perhaps your survey is a little incomplete. You do know that there's Rick Meyer and Bill (or Rocky) Meyer, quite different saddles made by estranged brothers. Ricks's have more seams, while Rocky's are quite minimalist, with only one seam. Mine is a Bill Meyer saddle, custom-made in Ojai, and I'm q...

Re: Greetings. Newb here...
I have not shared with anyone except my wife about how excited I am, but I'm crawling out of my skin. My R12R arrives here this Wednesday and I can't wait. This will be the first time I have bought a bike without riding it and I must confess that I'm anxious way more than I thought I would be. I re...

I mean no disrespect, the Italians make a beautiful motorcycle...but,it looks like another GS clone to me,the only thing it lacks in design is the duck bill.

Re: considering purchasing R1200R
t takes 20-30K miles for a boxer engine to break in...she will become as smooth as silk and purr like a tigress in time. I used to laugh in disbelief when I heard people say this kind of thing. But it's true in my experience. I'm only up to 12K miles on my 2010 R12R and the engine is just now start...

tucker, with only 5 miles on the test ride bike...that thing is brand new. It takes 20-30K miles for a boxer engine to break in...she will become as smooth as silk and purr like a tigress in time. The 12R is my third bike in less than a year, the best "all rounder,do everything I need bike" ...

Re: cool bikes
For myself,I would go with a Standard GS...the Adventure model and that HUGE gas tank make that one top-heavy beast....I know many will argue that.
I feel the new yammie is just another BMW clone.
My 2 cents

Re: In deep...with Corbin seat
[/quote] Hmmmmm. Every Sargent seat I have had has had a Sargent seat pan with the nifty little tool tube built into the pan. Much lighter than Corbin and BMW. Have they started something new ? One of the plusses to the Sargent was that you always had the stock seat to fall back on when you sold you...
