04 R1150R Idle wavers
My R1150Rs idle will not remain stable. It moves up and down about 2 or 3 hundred rpm. Is this a dirty throttle body? Thanks Roger

Re: Help Please! Bike cannot hold idle.
Hi Boxer,
As I look at the microfiche, I do not see a gasket between the TB and the head. I see what they call and inlet or intake manifold. Is that what you are talking about? Thanks Roger

R1150R is a Morning Person
I live in Colorado Springs. Morning temps have been in the 60s. Sorry about that riders down in the south. When I commute to work in the morning Moon runs like a scalded ape, even at low RPMs. However, in the return home in the afternoon, the temp is in the middle 80s, once again sorry about that ri...

Re: amsoil
I make my own antifreeze for Moon. i also use Amsoil all around. I even dab a little behind each ear when I change the crankcase oil. Here is a link to the Amsoil oil study. http://www.oilshoponline.com/amsoilsynthetic-Harley-Davidson/Motorcycle-Oil.htm Give it a read and decide for yourself. I woul...

Re: Pilot Road 2 installation question
The man that installs my tires says he has spoken with the Michelin rep at a rally last year. He asked the rep how to get the most mileage from the RP2s. He tells me the rep suggested that we R1150R pilots use 40 psi in the front and 42 in the rear. Thats what I have ran on the RP2s I have on my R a...

Re: 2004 R1150R Idle rpm decreases when front break is enga
Yes I have ABS and I run with my bright beams (stock lighting) on. I had not thought of this until today. Additionally, the ABS is showing no fault codes as far as the lighting on the triple plate goes. Thanks.

2004 R1150R Idle rpm decreases when front break is engaged

Re: SHAFT DRIVE OIL LEAK
The key here is to monitor it closely. Watch the bottom of the rubber boot closely as the oil tends to cause the bottom of the boot to deteriorate. Mine is doing the same thing and my mechanic 30 years experience says 60 percent of the motorcycles that he replaces the paralever bearings on have a si...

Re: 2004 Requiring Frequent Throttle Body Synch
threads on the little rhs throttle adjust have gone - they're only brass, in a steel thead and if the adjuster is left at all loose the threads will wear away. I have checked pretty thoroughly for air leaks. I had WD 40ed every possible place with no change in RPM. Please explain a bit about the rhs...

I am not sure where you live. But if you live anywhere near Colorado Springs I can walk you through the Throttle Body Synch and valve adjustment.

Re: Idles at 1450
Ok, I finally broke the code on why my machine was idleing at 1450. The throttle cables were to tight. Once I backed them off and set both BBAS at one and a half turns out. Then set up the Twin Max. Balanced the idle at 1150. Then set the port cable to where it did not move until the throttle was ad...

Great Motorcycle. Learn to do the basic maintenance yourself. You will do it better than the dealer cause you care about your machine more than they do. I included a few links that have been helpful to me. I have had my R1150R about 6 months and have commuted everyday. Welcome and keep the shiny sid...

Idles at 1450
My 2004 R1150R's idle slowly started creeping up recently. I have done a TBS and had my work checked by a competent mechanic. Valves all check out. My guess is a vacume leak somewhere. Any feedback from the forum would be appreciated. Thanks Roger

Re: Throttle body sync and idle adjustment on 04 R1150R
I felt the same way when I first started riding my R1150R. Part of the problem was that the stealership had done a poor job on the valve adjustment (way too tight) and the Throttle Body Sync had been botched. After I adjusted the valves and Throttle Bodies, she rode far smoother, and I love the soun...
