Re: Saddlebags

Blue Loctite can be disassembled with heat. Use a hair dryer or direct heat from a low watt soldering iron applied to the screw head. Caution if it heats the plastic on the case it will be history. If you want to use a chemical locking compound ----- read the manufactures data not just the back of t...

footpeg lowering

I have an 08 and interested in lower foot pegs. I have another bike and the distance from the seat to the peg is about 1 1/2 inch greater. This results in a much more comfortable leg position on the k bike. I would be interested in feedback from those who have done this modification, including what ...

Re: May be my ABS?

HJS sorry I don't hit the site real often. I'm on the road somewhat. But, the repair of stuck brush is a dead simple repair. If you want to give me a call I can give you a blow by blow over the phone then you could decide if you want the thrill of victory or the agony of writing a check. 704 996 396...

Re: May be my ABS?

I highly suggest not hitting the motor housing with a hammer. The motor field is a ceramic magnate. I also think You can repair the stuck brush yourself. I DID and I'm an idiot.

Re: Brake Failure

Well Don I don't know about a lemon but all those items were brought to my attention by BMW . even the brake module problem, even though that is out of warranty. I own a euro bike repair shop . So the process to fix the abs motor is really pretty easy. I just get angry with BMW when every one of tho...

Re: 800 miles away from home, need help.

John I agree there is no way the system will self bleed. But, what will happen that as time goes on the fluid De-aireates allowing the formation of a small air bubble most likely near or in the slave. This will cause the soft lever symptom. after quick pumps on the lever resistance of the mechanical...

Re: 800 miles away from home, need help.

Keep in mind the stuff in your clutch cylinder is NOT brake fluid. I notice at time my hydraulic systems (clutch and brake) appear to give soft and hard feedback occasionally. Rapid pumps on the lever usually clears the soft condition right away, Sometimes it might feel soft a few days later. YMMV B...

Re: Brake Failure

strangely enough my 2008 with 4,000 miles did the same thing 3 days ago. brake fail lamp on and NO abs. cycled the switch returned after about 10 miles. I have other BMW's and one , an 03 clc, is real sensitive to abs faults due to battery voltage. Any how I put in a new battery and viola. Fault ret...

Re: White Oil Sludge?

The moisture dilution normally would not be a problem EXCEPT that bikes tend to sit for long periods and the condensation stays long enough to damage some Wear surfaces. You really need to boil this stuff off often. In fact in the automotive world the transmissions condense a lot of water in cool cl...

Re: soft bag frames

I found a frame for a Kawasaki accessory that is about the right shape. When things slow down a little after Speedweeks I'm gonna figure out some mounts. I'll shoot you some pictures when I get the first one done.

Fastest colors

when I bought my R I wanted A white motorcycle, But white was not a color available yet. So I notice that a lot of folks Lust after the next color that becomes available then lament that they will just have to sell their pride and joy to get that latest color. Would it be cost effective to just purc...

soft bag frames

I have a 2008 R1200R that I bought without bags or mounts. I like using soft saddlebags. Right now I use Silverstone expandable. Has anyone run accross frames for this bike that help hold them? Similar to Happy Trails racks.
Thanks Dave

Re: interesting machine

Harry you are so right. I love that brand but, it will sure make you understand the pain part of the flavor of motorcycling. The bike is not that bad but the rest is amazingly inept. My neighbor has a California and we ride together a bit and the Goose is fine. The dealer he uses is a JERK. I went i...

Re: About this latest brake recall....

I purchaced my 2008 in May, 2008. AT a service in september 2008 the dealer said there was a campain on brake lines. I have never recieved a notice from BMW on that one. Any how they kept my bike for 6 weeks waiting on parts. I sent a note to BMW NA and the very next day my bike was ready. I cannot ...
