Z6 worn out at rear - mix tyres?
Hi All, I had a Metzeler Z6 fitted to the rear of my R1100R last year. I'm a bit disappointed as it hasn't lasted very long at all (8k km, if that...). The front Z6 tyre is still in good condition. Is it possible to mix brands of tyre, front and rear? And, if so, any better tyres out there than the ...
Re: R850R
Haynes and Clymer make workshop manuals the R1100/R850 (at least I know Haynes does). Might be worth the read. You can also get OEM Service Manuals, but have heard they can be confusing to use. Parts sources (since you're in the UK): motorworks.co.uk motobins.co.uk Previous PDF link seems a good rea...

Re: How rare is the R1100R?
Nice! I see you have the CHiPs device installed (just like mine). I got the feeling, a year after buying my R1100R, that it's a bit of an "ugly duckling". But that soon passed the more I rode it. There aren't tons of them, they're a great bike, and a joy to ride as a "roadster" -...

Re: How rare is the R1100R?
As Boxermoose says, not terribly "rare", just not a huge seller (granted, it worked somewhat well here in Europe, hell, I've got one )

Re: BMW R1100R - how to lower the gear selector?
Hi omg1010, Tried it, the stock one is it's at max and still not low enough for comfortable shifting (there's only about 1cm of play possible in the stock one). It's why I'm looking for a longer one. From what I can see on all the motorcycle breakers (wrecking yards?) online, they won't sell just th...

BMW R1100R - how to lower the gear selector?
Hi Everyone, i've got an R1100R.. I'm a tall bloke (187cm).. I've fitted a peg lowering kit, and now need to lower the gear selector.. which as far as I can see means I need a longer one of these (the whole thing, with the ball-end connections on both ends): http://www.awfulquiet.ch/misc/Shifter.jpg...

Re: R1100R fuel tank capacity
Ok, so I'm very light on the throttle
90 is my average around here I would say, I prefer back roads instead of autoroute.. Even then, I only do 100kph (62mph) on the autoroute as the vibrations above 4000 rpm seem a bit worrying (maybe my ignorance at what the motor can actually do)

Re: new bike problem
Hiya,
I'm not sure if this applies to the R1100R, but I've read the R1100RS (pre 1997) has transmission problems, which were fixed in 1997.
I think what he means by "carbs" is that the throttle bodies were synced?
Cheers,

Re: R1100R fuel tank capacity
I can easily get 350 to 400km out of tank of petrol (21 liters / 5.46 US gallons).. the BMW estimate @ 100kph (60mph) is 4.6 liters per 100km..
Your estimates are saying you're getting only 200km out of tank..
What speeds do you guys ride at?
