Re: Changed the final drive

The drive came from an RT (a tad less likely to have been flogged.)

Changed the final drive

I have been thinking of swapping out my final drive for one with a lower ratio for some time and finally got the nerve and time to do it. I got a 32:11 at a good price and in good condition. A bit of tidying up (repaint etc) a new seal and O-ring and it was ready to go. Yowsers!!!!! Why didn't I do ...

Re: ABS removed, now to reroute the lines...suggestions.

Despite all of the palaver I suggest being super careful about painting callipers. I used the VHT caliper paint and followed the instructions to the letter. I found that I must have had a super slow leak at the banjo on the caliper. Despite its touted resistance to brake fluid it messed up the finis...

Re: ABS removed, now to reroute the lines...suggestions.

Sweatmark, There are a few steps and a bit of palaver. 1 - Full rebuild (pistons, seal and mounting bolts. Don't split the callipers, they have a notorious tendency to warp and become impossible to re-seal. 2 - The callipers were cleaned and then the lettering front and back was lightly sanded back ...

Re: ABS removed, now to reroute the lines...suggestions.

Thanks guys, the job is done. Dual banjos and uprated discs and pads. Much better feel especially at low speed and it stops very neatly. https://i.postimg.cc/HxkFCf2s/Double-Banjo.jpg You guys probably already sussed this out but the guide bracket on the left hand side works on the right as well, ju...

Re: ABS removed, now to reroute the lines...suggestions.

Thanks heaps for that Riceburner, Sorry for not following the question up on the original posting. When I was contemplating the job I didn't really have my head around the three different ways to re-route the brakes and after I had done it and seen the under tank coupling it threw me for a loop as I...

ABS removed, now to reroute the lines...suggestions.

OK, The ABS is gone along with removal of the various sensors etc. I also fitted some Brembo callipers that are fully rebuilt. https://i.postimg.cc/kMQr8kKF/IMG-2626.jpg I am wondering now about re-running the hoses. There seems to be three options: 1 - Dual banjo at the bar 2 - Dual banjo at the ri...

Re: Throttle Hard to Twist

Hi , I recently removed the ABS on my bike. While I had the tank off I thought I would do a few other things, one of which was check the Bowden junction. I dis-assembled the fast idle cable and lever, cleaned and lubed both. No doubt there will be comment about lubing cables but I clean them and the...

Re: WTB R1150R ABS module

Hi,

I took mine off literally a week ago. It's in my garage and it worked when I removed it. (Taken off for weight, whine, brake feel, simplicity).

Send me a PM.

New Clutch and gearbox leak

Ok this is a bit of a combo question. I have an oil leak and I need a new clutch. Oil leak I was recently fiddling with the back end to fit the shorter paralever. The boot came off at the swingarm/bevel box junction and I noticed a lot of oil. When I followed up there was also oil around the area at...

Re: Suspension set-up

This is a brilliant question. The traditional relationship between static and dynamic sag is all based forks and traditional swingarms. I have wondered on many occasions if the tele lever / paralever set up changes those relationships. Is it still 25-40mm? I am especially interested right now. My sh...

Re: Ignition Switch Problem

If you need to do it, replacing the ignition switch/key barrel assembly it looks like an exceedingly tiresome job. The block holding the switch is secured underneath the triple clamp using single direction security bolts. The bolts are also coated in thread lock. To remove the switch block these bol...

Re: Do we need more users?

I have experienced issues when attempting to post as well. I can be logged in, I draft a reply to something, then when I try to post I am asked to log in again. Do that and all the draft text is lost. I have taken to drafting everything offline or saving to my the desktop first. That’s a separate is...

Fast idle issue

I had issue balancing my throttle bodies. They alway idled high, one needed the BBAS stopped shut and the other was open about two turns and they would still idle at 1300 rpm. Some investigation showed that the BMW dealership doing the services had been less than rigorous, at zero input from the bar...

Re: Throttle Hard to Twist

I had the same issue. I undid the the right hand controls and sprayed teflon dry lube at two points: 1 - Between the actual metal handlebar and the plastic tube that surrounds it. Applied from the bar weight end and the control end. Let the solvent evaporate and applied again while rotating the thro...

Re: LED Bulbs - Update

I should have learned by now, check this forum first and save yourself some time and heartache. The Hella bar end indicators from the likes of the R69s have always caught my eye. I wanted to have something that had the looks but still met the Australian design rules (and wouldn’t cause problems at r...

Re: Changed fuel line quick-connectors, now it won't start.

Throttle cables were definitely seated, That one has bitten me on the behind too many times to fall for it again. I stripped it back down to check for electrical issues. Cant see anything obvious. (Cut, split, disconnected) I'll put the tank on and check: - Fuel onto the plugs. - Breathers are not p...

Changed fuel line quick-connectors, now it won't start.

Hi all, I still had the disconnects with the half plastic bodies so I bought the full metal versions and swapped them out. Started everything up before buttoning it all back up and it started. Put it back together it its cranky. It cranked but wouldn't start. I had run the tank low as I knew I was g...
