Re: Ducati Monster vs R1200R

Well, my test ride of a Monster EVO 1100 turned into a trade/buy of my R1200R.... There isn't as much similarities between the two bikes as I thought there would be. Surprised as to how much lighter the Ducati felt, made for a blast to ride quickly. The sound is fabulous even with stock pipes. The b...

Re: Why is there only one swingarm pivot cap?

Might be a silly question (and yes, I've searched the forum for an answer) but on my new R1200R, there is a black plastic cover on the left side (as sitting on the bike) swingarm pivot cap, but nothing on the right. I see that Touratech, Hornig, and others make a cover, but it begs the question, wh...

Re: exhaust

Ok, this might be a dumb question, but I noticed that some of the Akrapovic's for the R1200R's have 2 exhaust tips, and others only 1. What gives? From what I can gather it based on the model year of the bike, or the year that the can was produced. On their site, they show 2011 with 1 outlet, where ...

Ducati Monster vs R1200R

I have to believe that I'm not the only one who has made the comparison between our R1200R's and the Ducati Monster - particularly the new EVO 1100. I know it isn't a true apples to apples comparison - seating position different, final drive is different, engine config is obviously different, but wh...

Re: A "shorty" Akrapovic exhaust on an R1200R?

I would have thought that anything from the cat-back wouldn't affect how it runs, just the sound. Guess I'll need to not go custom but off the shelf aftermarket....

A "shorty" Akrapovic exhaust on an R1200R?

I've searched the forum, but didn't find anyone who mounted a "shorty" style exhaust can (similar to what would be on the S1000RR) on to their R1200R. I know it would need a specialized bracket to be made, but I thought it might look cool and I never use this bike with a passenger or saddl...

Re: removal of rear shock cover?

Thanks guys! I just installed the ilmberger hugger and noticed the shock cover rubs up against the forward most part of the hugger. Thought it would look better with the shock exposed and the hugger should keep it clean. Not sure I want to spend over grand on a Ohlins shock, so it looks like the dre...

Re: Rear Hugger for my R12R

Went to unpack and install the hugger.....instructions are in German....I don't read German. Looks pretty straight forward, but it would be nice to know if there is anything besides pulling the wheel, 3 bolts, remount the wheel.... Anyone installed one? Anything I should take note of during the inst...

Re: Who's in the Phoenix area?

....it is pretty funny. "Bueller.....Bueller....." nobody there. While I like owning a bike that isn't that common, it is strange that the 5th largest city (Phoenix) and the 13th largest metro area with over 4 million people doesn't have at least ONE other here.... Guess I need to go to Eu...

After searching on, and reading past posts regarding huggers, I've decided to bite the bullet and go with the ilmberger CF.

Re: Rear Hugger for my R12R

Mark, It's been a few years since you posted your order/repair/repaint/install posting, but I wanted to let you know it was very helpful in helping me make a decision as to which hugger to go with. I was going to go the way of the Nippy, but the price isn't that much less than the carbon fiber one f...

Re: Why is there only one swingarm pivot cap?

I have the milled cap, in black. It has a small hole to solve the condenastion issue. Absolutely no issues in two years. Yes, it costs a lot for what you get, and especially because once it's on you simply don't notice it. But I noticed the absence of an end cap, every time I looked at the bike, fo...

Re: Less expensive alternative to a hugger

Good to know.

So Mike, it sounds like you have no regrets in your purchase of the Nippy Norman's hugger over the carbon fiber ones like from Wunderlich?

Any pics that you could post? There is only one on the Nippy Norman's site.

Re: Less expensive alternative to a hugger

Hey Mike,
Thanks for clarifying.
Found the Nippy Norman - http://www.nippynormans.com/products/hu ... -r1200r-bk

I like the look, and not as pricey as the carbon fiber ones.

Is there someplace you can buy using US dollars?
