FS: 2008 R1200R
2008 R1200R, Black. 51,000 miles. Upgraded Yacugar suspension from Teds Beemer shop installed by dealer. Cee Bailey windscreen, rear mudguard, panniers. I have handlebars from an 2008 800ST which makes it handle more like a sport bike, original handlebars available too. I still have the original BMW...

Re: Brake Lever Adjustment
Thanks for the link to Beamer Boneyard. It got me thinking to check Wunderlich for some kind of modified lever, and it turns out they have brand new ones including a new spring and bushing for the same cost as a used one. The website says it is made by the same company that BMW contracts with. I jus...

Re: Is anyone ever here?
When I bought my used R1200R many moons ago, I got so much useful information from this board it was hard to believe. Everyone was really helpful and I could really feel the personality of the typical (kind of particular) BMW owner. I still ride my 2007 plenty, but only come to this board for specif...

Re: Brake Lever Adjustment
You are right Wink, the "knotchs" are definitely worn down. The thumb screw is integral to the brake lever, which is a $101.21 part. The parts guy at my BMW shop had the same idea as me, and I just applied some blue threadlocker. Hopefully it holds. If anyone knows of a used brake lever fo...

Brake Lever Adjustment
My 2008 R1200R has 43,000 miles and is still killing it with my upgraded suspension, Cee Bailey windscreen, and modified handlebars for sport touring. I have test ridden some new bikes, but this bike is still really dialed in for me. I got a lot out of this board when I first purchased the bike used...

Re: I am an old new guy
I have an 08 R1200R that I bought with 14,000 miles and now it has 44,000 miles. It has been trouble free. After I test rode a couple water boxers at my dealer, I got back on my bike and could see no reason to upgrade. The saddle is a torture device, so you might want to see if the seat has been upg...

Re: Is this forum dead?
I test rode an RS from the dealer and loved it. Can't afford a new one right now. Pricing seems out of line. I don't know if the handlebars would need to be tweaked, but I did notice a little pressure. Maybe I just need to keep my elbows loose, or it could use a riser. Looks like a few more thousand...

Re: 1200gsa handlebar on r1200r
I put handlebars from a BMW F800ST on my R1200R and I love them. Really changed the ergos to something a little more sporty.

Re: Replacing the R1200R with what bike
I am going to test ride an R1200RS and the new Triumph Speed Triple. Once upon a time I thought I would like a Ducati, but the test ride didn't do it for me. I have an HP4 which grows on my the more I ride it. An S1000R or XR would be pretty cool, but the vibrations seem to be a problem. That or an ...

Re: Brake Bite
Thanks everyone. Riding my other bike (HP4) has really changed my perspective on brakes. I never minded the ones on my R1200R until then. GTS, Since I just overpayed for OEM brake pads on the rear, I was thinking of just adding the sintered pads to the front when that comes up. Even if I was changin...

Brake Bite
I was always just okay with the brakes on my 08 R1200R. Don't get me wrong, they are good, but I would like more initial bite and overall stopping power. With my ABS, it appears the stock brake pads are Brembo's, metallic on the front and organic on the back. The back pads were replaced with OEM at ...

Re: New to me '07 r1200r non abs, just a few questions pleas
I think all the 2007's had abs. Been standard on BMW for a while. The brakes are linked standard too. I have no traction control on my 08, but I do have ABS and linked brakes. Is the owners manual still under the seat? I changed my handlebars and added risers. I was able to reroute the lines without...

BMW Scrambler
Looks like there may be a BMW Scrambler built on our old R1200R engine, the same aircooled camhead being used in the RnineT. Pretty cool! Here is one article http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/news/bmw-scrambler-model-2015/ This one appears to have a little more detail. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/ne...

Is this still an issue for some of you R1200R owners? I have a pair of matched Wunderlich swingarm pivot covers I was thinking of listing in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum.

Cool idea. OEM BMW parts tend to be expensive. I googled weatherproof push button switch and got a huge response. Evidently there are about a billion choices out there.

Re: unitgarage kits.......
I'm with Harry too. I would look for a vintage bike before I put a $4,000+ retro kit on my R1200R any day. I have seen some other brands too. They look really cool, but so does my bike without it.

Here is a first review on the new R1200R. Not a lot of meat in the article, but it is a start. http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/reviews/2015-bmw-r1200r-first-ride-motorcycle-review?src=SOC&dom=fb Here is another review that seems to be a little more focused on the cosmetics. Must have been the ...
