Re: TKC 80's
I'm still running the tires every winter. Not sure how many mile they have on them. I really don't put on many miles in the winter, I just use the bike primarily for my in-town commute in the colder months... days around zero F don't make me inclined to go for a long ride! I have the tires studded u...

Re: LED replacement headlight bulb
Thanks for your response. I'm glad to hear that the light remains focused enough... who could not use a little more attention grabbing for the cagers! Did you change out both the running light and the high beam? I think the '08 takes an H11 bulb. Would I not want that one as opposed to the H7 in the...

LED replacement headlight bulb
So, I am interested in replacing the low-beam (and maybe high-beam??) bulbs on my '08 R with LEDs. I did a search, but couldn't find anything on this. Has anyone done this? How did it go? What bulbs did you use?

Re: Gear selection indicator gone wonky??
Yes, I rode my bike through all kinds of ice and snow this winter, I guess that was/is a large part of the problem. Particularly considering where the switch/sensor lives, right in the path of the crap coming of the rear wheel. Knock on wood, I have not seen a recurrence of this problem. Glad to see...

Re: Gear selection indicator gone wonky??
Wash the bike?? What is wash the bike? Just kidding, no I hadn't just washed it or ridden through any crappy weather. With that said, I did just ride her through my second Maine winter, so no doubt any amount of crud could've gotten sprayed up in there... I figure the bad weather riding is quite pro...

Re: Gear selection indicator gone wonky??
Thanks for your response.
I will have another go at adjusting the screw on the clutch lever. The gear selection indicator has remedied itself. It has once again started acting as it should... this is alarming, as I'm sure it will fail completely at some point!

Re: Gear selection indicator gone wonky??
I spoke with my dealership over the phone, they suggest it is the Potentiometer on the back of the gearbox... I will try pluggin and unpluggin to see if that does anything before buying a $173.55 rheostat.

Gear selection indicator gone wonky??
I'm looking to dip into the brain trust. I have an '08 R12R with a hair under 60k miles. My bike has two, I think unconnected, problems. First the bike will only start in Neutral. I have posted about this before. I believe this is due to a faulty/out of adjustment switch on the clutch lever. It's be...

Re: AIR HAWK Recommendations?
Glad to hear the Air Hawk worked out. The leg room is the main reason I'm considering the GSA for my next ride.
Bob Ain't Stoppin' wrote: My main issue now is that the leg room is less on this bike than on a real touring rig like a GS or RT.

Re: new R1200R in 170 pictures
The white does look good. I'm not sure about the giant R on the tank, but I like the fairing lowers. I'm sure they offer nothing to the performance and are in essence just another piece of expensive plastic to break and replace, but the look is hot.

Re: 2015 R1200R Water Boxer
I think a lot of the advantage comes in stopping the dive under braking of a big, heavily laden bike. Hence they're sticking with the Tele for the big tourers and the GS', but moving to more conventional front ends on the more nimble machines.

Re: Brake pads and rotors
Yeah, I priced out EBC rotors and pads, the cost is around $700 including OEM replacement bolts. BMW parts close to $1400... guess what I'm ordering!
Thanks for the feedback and experience.

Brake pads and rotors
The dealership let me know I need to fit three new rotors, they're close to being out of spec on thickness, and the pads need changing too. Has anyone tried non-oem rotors/pads?

My R's in for service right now. Getting the warrantee fuel strip fix while it's in. It's going to take a while to trust it.
