Traded her in

Thanks all for the great info and experience from this site. I finally traded my r1150r (02 black) in. I now have a new 2022 ducati monster 937.... Almost 20 years of joy and memories with my bimmer. The dealer told everyone to come out and look at my 02. She was mint and clean and beautiful. But at...

Re: Test post

I wonder if the site is going under. I hope not. Its helped me so much. Bought my bike new and only until a few years ago have I been able to do all my own maintenance. I remember accomplishments like my first successful fuel filter replacement or adjusting my valves knowing that they were spot on. ...

Re: Do we need more users?

I still have my R (bought new in 02) and this forum and its users helped me to ween off years of dealer maintenance that were not always done right or done at all... I was even afraid of taking off the gas tank by myself until I saw Sweatmark's tank removal video. Now I can change and bleed all my f...

Re: glove suggestions

As a baseline budget glove, I recommend Tourmaster's custom midweight 2.0 glove. I've had good luck with Tourmaster gloves. I think they are decent quality leather, fairly well made and for the money, a great value. The 2.0 meets your requirements except for the visor wipe. (42.00 at revzila)

Re: woo-hoo

Peels, thanks for sharing and being a good person. I can relate to your thoughts since I also have an 02 R. and have been a boater for 30 plus years. I’ve thought about replacing my R, but it still runs sweet and, thanks to the good folks on this site, I can do all my own maintenance with confidence...

Re: Clutch Slave Cylinder

Just wanted to add that I replaced the original factory clutch end plug with a speed bleeder and it was not difficult. It came off with two wrenches, a firm grip and turn. Much easier than I thought it would be after reading that it was going to be a tough go.... At least that was my case.

Re: Good Time to Ride

Both self organized and with a company. The wife of one of the riders from our local group is Laotian. She helped us organize the route and places to stay in Laos. She contracted with a local Thai organizer who rented us the bikes and helped us get across the border from Thailand to Laos. The Thai b...

Re: Good Time to Ride

I got back from a Laos motorcycle trip this last Wednesday. I left for Asia before everything went crazy.... And I think I was safer in Laos than the San Francisco Bay area. Now I'm sheltered in place but was going to self quarantine anyway. The ride was on Honda 250 dirt bikes going through souther...

Re: Holiday advice please!

Plenty of great restaurants in S.F. Just pick your cuisine. Italian, Asian, steakhouses, etc. $ to $$$$. Three days is not much time but we can help you take in a lot with a locals view of the city in mind. And you can still take in what you want to see (and eat). Again, you’re welcome to stay with ...

Re: Holiday advice please!

Rice burner,

If you let me know when you will be in the San Francisco area, I can provide my R1150R for you to ride, and if you need a place to stay, I’m in the center of town and have plenty of room in my home. Let me know.

Re: Tire Repair Kit

I sent Revzilla a note and I’ll see whether they give me any credit for the age of the tire. I’m planning on switching both tires. Going to take the wheels down to the MotoTireGuy guy to install and balance the tires. Is there anything I need to do for safety sake when I remove both wheels at the sa...
