Insurance company tells them when I pull the insurance off of it, and the clock starts ticking. BUT - it doesn't matter - buyer backed out for other reasons. C'est la vie.

Re: Selling Bike - Advice on Executing Fly & Ride?

Thanks for the simplification and CYA suggestions. I'm just looking into it to try and help him out a bit, but I agree - it's ultimately his dilemma. why can't he drive it home with the current plates? Because amazingly enough, NY wants the plates back - and I have a pretty short timeframe to turn t...

Selling Bike - Advice on Executing Fly & Ride?

Selling my R12R (sniff, sniff) and have a buyer. Reaching out to the wealth of experience and looking for some advice on executing a fly & ride for the guy looking to buy my bike and take it back to Texas. An hour of searching (VA and TX DMV sites, google, this and other forums) has yielded zero...

Scratches in Side Cases - Repair?

Have a few scratches in side cases, not deep or gouges by any means. Any suggestions on "fixing" them? I know nothing will make them perfect, but would like to do what I can.

Advanced cornering clinic at Marine Corps Base Quantico from a few weeks ago. They set up a track on a huge drill pad with tons of corners and only a couple of short straights. They're having another one this Thursday - can't wait! http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/xx302/grlask/Hosted%20Pics/ACCAug...

First thing I checked - no change in starting lever position. I could have moved the lever further out, but don't like the extra reach required.

Re: Which tankbag for new R1200R

Chop... I picked up the new Engage tankbag a few weeks ago from Twisted Throttle retail store. They changed the styling a bit... They sure did. Bummer. When I got mine, I went to TT as well (the old store - I used to live in Wakefield) and took a few models outside to see how well they fit - the En...

Cam head motor didn't hit the R12R until 2011 (not one in my 2010).

Re: Excess "Pull" in Front Brake Lever

Well, I wasn't able to get into Morton's on a couple of days notice, but they gave me a suggestion over the phone for something to try... This: Or you can use some electric tape to hold the lever squeezed in tight and leave it overnight to bleed the air, a trick an old dirt bike racer taught me. Spe...

Excess "Pull" in Front Brake Lever

2010 R1200R with ABS and 10k miles. Last regular service performed at 7.5k by the dealer - brakes were bled. Problem: Front brakes don't engage until well into the lever travel and it takes pulling the lever nearly all the way to the grip to get full braking power. I usually brake with first two fin...

Re: Which tankbag for new R1200R

I went with the Bags Connection "Engage" - LOVE the gascap mounting system and that the bag doesn't actually touch the tank at all . It's not large, but I don't want a big tank bag (obscure GPS, don't like the way it would look) and can fit a lot into the 7 liters inside this one. Doesn't ...

If it doesn't catch you because your topbox is in the way, or you're on the far left side of the lane, well that's a real bummer. ;) That works great unless you're in RI where they have drop arms across every lane... can't just breeze right through and bank on the camera reading (or not reading) yo...

Re: EZ Pass.

I tried a jacket pocket - no joy - and I didn't always use a tank bag so I figured out a way to mount it on the bike. I made a bracket out of 1/16" aluminum plate that I could use to mount it on the fork tree on top of the right fork leg. To make it removable, I used this 3M Dual Lock "vel...

Re: Changing tires today. Going to Road Pilot 3's

Nobody answered the question. Can you lean hard on the PR3's. I'm on my second set of conti's and I can scrape my pegs. Can that be done with the PR3's? Thanks in advance. Yes lean angles on the PR3's are amazing in both the dry and the wet (peg scraping will be do-able). I would dought that the Co...

Re: Attaching a satnav so it doesn't look pants

The simplest solution seems to be to replace one of the bolts that hold the handlebar on with a ball and use a ram mount ... That's what I did - this is the best pic I've got that shows how my mount is situated. It puts the unit just inside the left switchgear and easy reach. I get some glare every...

Re: The R1200R Photo Discussion Thread!

Like Senor Hooligan, I could only find one pic of the bike and me with no helmet with what could pass for a smile... Taken about 2 minutes after it was delivered, before I'd ever swung a leg over it! Many more smiles since, but any that were recorded were hidden behind a helmet... Oh - and I guess y...
