Re: Push switch for Aux Lights quick urban flashing?

I used a light switch intended for a R1200GS of my driving lights. It replaced part of the original left switch housing. It wasn't cheap, but it fits well.

Re: Differences between 2009 and 2013?

Not to mention that shimmed valve adjustments are very stable and rarely need attention.

Re: Additional Lighting for '11 R1200R

I don't recall the cost of the LumaLink brackets, but if you fill in the info on their ordering page, it will show you the price. The Clearwater lights have a rheostat type dimmer which is overridden to full power when you switch on your high beams. I bought the Darlas because I wanted the addition ...

Re: Additional Lighting for '11 R1200R

I have both the Skene photon blasters and Clearwater Darla lights. I have the Clearwaters mounted on Lumalink brackets. I recently had the opportunity to see my own bike being driven towards me after it was serviced. It was seriously conspicuous. It may seem like overkill, but it's my observation th...

Re: What are your Wunderlich Trophy fairing impressions?

It's been a while since I did mine but I remember that there is extra lengths of turn signal wiring under the headlight "visor" that allows you to route the wiring as necessary. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/DSCN15632.JPG That's basically what I was referring to. After I complete...

Re: What are your Wunderlich Trophy fairing impressions?

I like the Trophy fairing on my 2011. It's well made, the mounting brackets are well made and the paint is an excellent match. The photos in the instructions are not as good as they could be, but the correct assembly isn't difficult. I didn't think of this until my installation was complete, but I t...

Re: BMW R1200 2009 VS BMW 2011 is it worth upgrading

I love my 2011 R1200R, but if I were considering trading to a newer bike, I would wait for the 2015 R1200R. I don't care that much about the water cooled motor, but I'd really like a real cruise control like those available on the other water boxers.

Re: Luggage Width

I recently received an E-mail from Wunderlich announcing the availability of brackets to mount the classic Krauser style bags on an R1200R. I'm not sure of the relative capacities, but they really looked nice and narrow. http://www.wunderlichamerica.com/motorcycle/R1200R/43816004.html Click "Ot...

Well, my family bought me a Kendon lift (it's supposed to arrive tomorrow) and I bought the R1200R an Excel throttle lock.

Re: Got a Glimpse of Christmas Present

Unless you have crash bars, finding a place for any accessory horn is a pain on the R1200R. One place some have used is the spot BMW puts the carbon canister. Ditching the canister apparently doesn't cause and problems and isn't a legal problem except in California.

Re: BMW system 6 helmet

We don't get the BMW system helmets in the State, but it looks a lot like the Schuberth C3. Those are sold here. I have had one for several years and find it both quiet and comfortable. They don't flow a lot of air so I find myself opening the face shield slightly when riding in stop and go traffic.

Re: Foot Pegs Adjustable ?

When I installed the Wunderlich lowering kit, I noticed it came with German TUV approval stickers. This means that the official German certification board considers it safe. Between that annd my own observations, I don't think that ground clearance is much compromised with this particular kit.

Re: Range on a full tank...

I deliberately ran my 2011 R1200R empty today. With the MPG feature indicating 47 MPG the bike started to lose power at 226 miles. I didn't try to wiggle any extra distance out of the bike by tilting or shaking it as I had a gallon of gas in my saddlebag. I didn't measure the capacity as I haven't t...

Re: 2014 R1200R wethead ?

Hmmm, it's only a 5hp bump (115 HP vs 110HP) on the GS, and testers report less low end grunt, so it's not going to be a big difference with the present motor. The water cooling should let BMW tweak it a bunch when they want to. BTW, if I were so imprudent as to feed my cam head a fist full of throt...

Re: BMW Comfort Seat vs. Sargent Seat

My 2011 came with the low comfort seat which I found cramped. I replaced it with a high comfort seat which provides more leg room and also lets me slide back about an inch further. It's works OK for me.

I see that the Napoleon bar ends are now available again. They may take some adapting, but they are good quality and they fold. I have the on my R80 and like them a lot.

Re: Bar end mirrors.....

I have the Rizomas as well. The only downside is that they don't fold. I mounted mine by turning small aluminum bar extensions that fit inside the hollows of the bar ends and are handlebar sized after that. I found longer 8mm Torx screws at my BMW dealer.

Nope. There may be an aftermarket slipper clutch for R1200Rs but BMW does not provide one in anything but the new water cooled GS.
