Re: R1100RP? SP Police Bike
I got 2001 RTP 1100, oklahoma cop bike. 64k on the clock when i got it. I took all the cop stuff off and it is now 2 seater. Absolutly a blast to ride. Remember wire spoke wheels require tubes and cast wheels don't. Some cop bikes have been abused beyond help, I just got lucky. I ride mine all the t...

Re: Fogging face shield
Riding since '72 and fog city inserts have always worked well for me. True ,at nite they are extra plastic to look thru so expect some distortion. I clean my visors with BMW plastic polish every season, back and forth motions , never circular motions. I always use toilet tissue or softest cloth i ca...

Re: New topic? R1100RT-P
General information Model: BMW R 1100 RT Year: 2000 I converted my RTP to 2 seater and radio box and crash bars only added 20lbs to bike. It handles so well, you would this it's a 600cc sportbike. I rode sportbikes before this and my RTP will lean father than I have guts to go. Displacement: 1085.00...

Re: R1100RT vs R1150RT
I ride 2001 RTP1100 converted to 2 seater and love it. I know this is a naked bike forum but here is my 2 cents worth. This is my 9th bike, 2cnd BMW and I always bought bikes with fairings for a reason: on the sportbikes, wind buffeting. On this RTP same thing . But this bike has elec windshield, he...

Re: Dallas International Motorcycle Show - BMW a No Show
Yep, I was shocked to see how small the dallas show was too. And no BMW to sit on and play with...WTF? I guess vendors didn't sell enough last year to bother signing up. I was headed there with a Piaa on my cmas list for myself and no light vendors. Lousy cold rainy weather left lots of space the bi...

Re: New Radar Detector question
I wired my escort 8500 and nuvi gps to waterproof switch so when it rains, I can cut power to both at once. Escort is velcroed on and gps snaps out of mount easily. I also sealed up all the top holes on escort with silicone and mounted led block for alerts. I've been thru several storms with it and ...

Re: 1150 RTP radio box to rear seat conversion.
I just took me lady out for a ride the first time after converting cop bike to 2 seater. I measured rr suspension on ctr stand, then with me on it on ground, then with her on it. I turned up rear shock dampening half turn. 2 hr ride w break for lunch. It rode like a dream, in twisties and hiway. The...

Re: 1150 RTP radio box to rear seat conversion.
01 RTP1100 , I just finished my copbike to 2 seater conv. Go to beemerboneyard.com and see the kit they sell for $400 and pick out what you need. I didn't want all the stuff they offered and I saved $. bmwsporttouring.com has my posts as well as others and I found one post with step by step pics. Yo...

Re: What IS or ARE the solution(s) to increase power engine
I came from 178mph Blackbird to my 01 RTP1100. I knew it would be slower but more comfortable. This bike will handle the twisties as good as my Blackbird. I don't have to buy a new rear tire every 3k miles. I don't hurt all over when I get off, but that's the problem. I don't want to get off it. The...

Re: Front brake disc rattle
Both BMW bikes I have, have that rattle.
The disc expands and contracts from hot to cold.
It's just normal on a bike with some miles on it.
I think the bobbins cannot be replaced but come with new discs.
Just ride on...in my humble opinion.

Mine also, but it turned out to be the floating fr disks moving.
They expand and contract hot-cold and float on aluminum bobbins

Re: R1150RT Smooth acceleration - NOT
Have you done throttle body sync? My experience with dealers{ I worked at on 16yrs} is they will always do the minimum to get the bike out the door. If the valves have been set, inj cleaner run thru, the vacuum between TB may be off. Search forum for TB sync and you can see how easy it is to do. Mak...

My bug in the chest was rubber. I chuck of retread hit me in the chest at 80mph. Came right over windscreen. Felt like a horse kick, I was able to focus and pull over to cuss and blame fr%#@*&n rockhaulers. Now I never stay behind anything for long, I can usually avoid what I can see. Never foll...

Re: Spiegler Front Brake Lines: 3-hose or 4-Hose?
Can I have the link for speigler? My 01 Rt1100 stretches the fr brk hose when on center stand and steering locked. I have abs2 that doesn't work, so i have added ebc hh pads and they stop great. While putting on driving lites I noticed that the chrome fr brake line holder on fr fork was twisted forw...

Re: Final drive failure
Since the final drive is critical, I will change final drive oil with every oil change and look for large metal shavings on drain plug magnet and use that as health gauge. And IF it does start to fail will buy used one from Beemeboneyard, have my tech friend inspect it before installing, pull drives...

I got 01 Rt1100 2 months ago. I came from sportbikes, been riding since '72 and am ready to just ride all day without numb hands and knees. I always thought the RT was a gorgeous bike. It's not fast but I can ride all day, don't want to go home. I have always had full fairing bikes because I ride wh...

problem setting valves
01 Rt1100, same engine as roadster. I know the setting to use but I can't figure out where to stick feeler guage. I've set valves all my life on all my cars, normally between rocker arm and valve stem. On this bike there is a cone between rocker arm and valve stem. Where the $%& do I stick the f...
