Re: Headlight Misting Up- Seal Needed?

I've been waiting for someone to say don't ride in the rain, but here in Scotland that would mean never riding.

Re: Exhaust parts

I got a stainless steel lowering bend and muffler bracket fabricated at the local custom exhaust shop, cost me £40 which is about $60. http://www.elitecustomexhausts.com/index.htm

Re: H4 led headlight bulbs

Try a Phillips Xtreme Vision or an Osram Night Breaker. I installed a an Xtreme Vision 35000 miles ago, big improvement over standard H4. I haven't tried the Osrams but I hear that they are slightly better again. If you really want to max your headlight fit one of the above bulbs and an Eastern Beav...

Re: ABS R1150R Year 2001

Zero cost ABS removal, this is from the UKgsers forum and works for the R1150r but not the Rockster. The wiring and relay fix will give you brake lights on the Rockster but you will no longer have a working speedo. The second link gives details of another solution that solves the speedo problem and ...

Re: Caliper Rebuild kits Tokico for Rockster

* - the BMW kit doesn't include the 2 seals that sit between the calliper bodies. If you split the callipers, you would be best off replacing these seals - again - available via Kawasaki dealers. The seal that goes between the caliper halves can be found at Kawasaki and Honda dealers. Kawasaki (par...

Re: Front brakes on 2002 R1150 non ABS

When bleeding the front brakes on my 1150r I push the pistons all the way back into the caliper and put blocks of wood in place of the brake pads to stop the pistons moving. This reduces the caliper volume and ensures that there is nowhere for air to get trapped inside. Result, a solid brake lever a...

Re: Ooops...Sight Glass Fell inside

CoolBeans, go thru the window hole with a telescoping magnetic probe. If the part is not within the range or reach of the telescoping magnet, try something else. I'd tie and tape a string really good around a magnet small enough to fit thru the oil window opening, then use a long thin screwdriver t...

Re: Ooops...Sight Glass Fell inside

Having recently seen some photos of an 1150 engine strip I reckon you will have to take the tank off the bike, remove the black plastic belt cover on the front of the engine and pull out the alternator. Next you will have to take off the lower alternator pulley. Do not loosen the three bolts that ar...

Re: Stuck brake piston

Ok, got the brakes fixed. Removed the banjo and put the end of the pipe in a finger cut from a latex glove held in place with a ziptie to stop all the fluid draining out. Then I got my T40 socket and set about carefully losening the bolts that hold the two halves of the caliper together. First two b...

Re: Stuck brake piston

Hank - do NOT split the calipers until you have the new internal seals. you can't re-use the buggers. :( (I tried this once - they never sealed properly again.) I got distracted by the wife last night - will look up the Kawasaki part numbers this evening for you when I get back from archery. Thanks...

Caliper refurb kit is in the post from Sherlocks, will probably split the caliper tomorrow evening. Bleeding the brakes is the part I am least looking forward to, always been a bitch on this bike.

Stuck brake piston

I noticed my front brakes were bindng, so I loosened the left caliper and the wheel revolved freely. Ok so I removed the pads and pumped the brake lever to see what was going on, the inner pistons moved easily and the lower outer moved very slow the upper one didn't move. Outer pistons dont want to ...

Re: stupid dilemma - safety or expediency in summer riding g

Some gear is better than no gear at all. When I lived abroad, I was that idiot doing 130 mph on a sports bike wearing shorts, t shirt, and no helmet, and yeah it feels great. But, I saw too many dead bodies lying on the road, boys and girls who would still be here today if they had only worn a helme...
