Any offer to refund the money you paid for the evidently unnecessary work they performed?

Re: walve lash
I had a sudden noise (clatter at idle when up to temp) appear at 17,000 miles. Dealer said "don't drive it...cam chain tensioners". Replaced them, noise still. Now "you need the valves adjusted"...all in spec, noise still. Ok, "let us change your oil" ( 1700 miles since...

Re: Super Two Part Plastic Bonding Glue
You don't want regular JB Weld but they make a special "plastic weld" epoxy as do several other adhesive makers. Google "plastic weld" and you will see. Most Auto shops carry one of these.

Re: Riding Style & Tranny Bearing Life
The Bearings on the output shaft of my R50/5 failed twice. Second repair found that the shaft was not properly shimmed to eliminate side load on bearings when the case was bolted together. After that second repair I had no further transmission problems.

Re: 800 miles away from home, need help.
Sounds like fluid is leaking past either the piston in your master or slave cylinder...you are not getting full action on the clutch plate from your lever actuation. Riding without a working clutch mechanism is possible. Shifting underway no problem...stops in neutral, then foot pushing to pop into ...

Jed: those torque figures are posted in the R1200R owners manual under "threaded fasteners". If you do not have a copy it is available free online.

Re: Any one using Mann MW75 oil filter?
Many Mann filters are US made now, do not use them. I have always run BMW filters, but is there something particularly bad about US made Mann filters? The white USA Manns are Purelator made and equal to the $3.88 Classic Purelator filters at Walmart. While the classics may be worth 4 bucks...I will...

Re: Any one using Mann MW75 oil filter?
You are ok with Mann filters.I wouldn'bother to install them onto my bike. Many Mann filters are US made now, do not use them....the MW 75 filter is made in Germany. I live 200 miles from a dealer so I ordered these for less than 8 bucks. No reason to believe that these are less quality than OEM. M...

I got six Mahle OC 306 oil filters for my R12R.Recently Mahle producing oil filters for R1200xxx.This oil filter is the same as one under BMW brand name.MANN did oil filters for BMW previously.Actually they are the same. How many input holes on the Mahle around the center spigot?.... The Mann only ...

Re: Clinking / clunking at idle?? Dealer can't fix it
Don: thanks for all your input, but I am running. 40W and a 60W IS going up 2 grades if we are talking these respective oils at operating temp....when the darn clanking is present. TWS didn't save my M Coupes bearings so I doubt it can cure any mechanical defect. Dealer did change my oil to a thicke...

Any one using Mann MW75 oil filter?
Issues? Failures. Success? I have used a few with no complaints, but I bet my dealer scolds me when he pulls one off my bike today.

Re: Clinking / clunking at idle?? Dealer can't fix it
So if the noise is "normal" why change the oil? That would be a question for the dealer. Got any TWS in your garage for the M-Coupe? You might be pleasantly surprised... (and it is spec'd for the HP2 boxer engine - the high performance version of our engine..) 10w-40 is spec'd for the Cam...

Re: Clinking / clunking at idle?? Dealer can't fix it
Vales checked and all in spec (waste of time) and cam tensioners changed with the noise still present. Dealer wants to change oil even though it only has 2500 miles on it and I have use this type/vis oil for several 5 to 6 thousand intervals. Says he will not waste any more time or resources on this...

Make sure battery connections are tight. Check meter when you hit the starter...maybe way South of 13 volts with a load.

Re: Normal? Click/clunk at idle?...Video added of NOISE!
Never heard a valve clearance noise ONLY at idle..and only when hot. Valve noise would not go away at all RPM above idle. I did over 300,000 miles on /5s...I have heard some valves! Listening to your video I didn't notice it just at idle. Mebbe it is - but that isn't how it sounded to me. And when ...

Re: Normal? Click/clunk at idle?...Video added of NOISE!
Since it's a camhead, I can't speak from direct knowledge.. I have a hexhead original.. but it doesn't sound awful to me. There is a solid clunk/click in there that doesn't sound exactly like valves - but the spec's for clearances on the camheads is much wider than on hexheads, so if you're at the ...
